The invasion starts (NightWings VS Rogues)

First topic message reminder :

Xangor landed on the northern borders of the NightWings Empire, not so far from the IceWings territories. The dark dragons have locked their borders until today, imprisoning anyone that would dare to enter their territories. There was a reason behind this: the NightWings needed to build the largest army ever, militarizing the empire. After months of training, the army was finally ready to fight. The NightWings would finally start expanding territories and open their borders. Their goal was to take over as many rogues territories possible, capture new servaints and prepare the NightWings to move war against another tribe and access more lairs and resources. It wasn't casual the NightWings will move towards north, where the Icewings live. The ice dragons were one of possible Oculus targets. Xangor planned to do all of this in great secret alongside the Empetor Oculus, so other tribes would never suspect about the NightWings intentions. In fact they have already prepared a diabolic and cunning scheme: the NightWings will attack during the night, taking advantage of the darkness to capture rogues and secretely claim territories. The forests will help the dark dragons to hide even better. Xangor looked around while the night was coming. The other NightWings would arrive soon to join this campaign. Everyone was going to have a special role and be rewarded if the campaign would be successful. Xangor couldn't wait to start this invasion and he scratched the ground a little impatient. However he was in control of himself, his mind already working on all the strategies and his menacing red eyes studying the battlefield to prepare the attack. He has spent most of his life administrating territories, but rarely having a chance to conquer lands because of the peaceful approach of previous leaders. However Oculus was completely different from other leaders: he was ambitious enough to consider about moving war against others to strengthen the empire. This was one of the reasons because Xangor was supporting the Emperor, afterall. The Emperor will be the one to lead the invasion. This night will be the first attack and it was certainly going to be a nightmare for the poor rogues .

Lead snarled in disgust. If they were going to take over rogue territory why not just kill all the rogues. It'd be quicker and easier. Lead narrowed his eyes. "Your making a grave mistake.. You must be quite foolish to think we'll let it end this way." A nasty grin spread across his face and his eyes glazed over in blood lust. Muscles rippled under Lead's fur and his talons dug into the dirt. He lashed his tail back and forth.

Alistair helped with the raid. The female was relentless, using her FireWing heritage to engulf herself in flames and igniting or burning those who dared to touch her. When Emperor Oculus ordered the armies to cease their raiding, she didn't hesitate to obey.

Anything for my overlord.

Alistair kept in her place, panting heavily, and glaring at the newest additions as prisoners. They were lovely. They will serve the Empire well. If not? Well... That remains to be seen.

Nightstar couldn't think straight. The first thing she wanted to do was to help this poor dragon, who probably had kids at her home right now. But then again, she was suppose to be a NightWing. She snarl quietly at the ground and shook her head with fustration. She looked at the female dragon with pity. "Not anymore. These lands are newly for the NightWings. The rights of us having it? None. I guess this battle just proves that NightWings are stronger." Night's glare became less menacing and more caring. This female had to have little ones at home. She gave a weak smile and bend down a little, whispering, "I'm sorry. I really am. I wish I could let you go free, but unfortunently I can't do that. No doubt you have little children at home and I can't bear to keep you here and torture you. I do hope you'll believe me when I say that I'll try not to hurt you." As if all the caring was gone, she stood up straight and looked foward holding the dragoness by the neck lightly, claws sheathed, and walked back over to the group, "I caught another one."

Acer had begun to get restless hiding like a coward in his cave, while rogues were being enslaved in the distance. He moved the boulder out of the way and spread his cramped wings, taking to the air.
It would certainly be easy to make out Acer's light sand colored scales against the dark night sky, but he felt confident about his prowess in the air(Unless he ran into Skywings.) and keeping his distance from these invaders.
He lowered himself into the forest canopy as the sounds grew nearer, crouching low to the ground in a hunting-esque stance.
His eyes widened as he realized who the invaders were.
"...Nightwings. Flying squirrels." He muttered, before quickly putting a claw to his maw.
Oops. Why did he say that out loud?
He backed away, into the undergrowth, hoping he hadn't been heard.

Rii had been hiding in an underground tunnel that she had dug herself a few weeks ago. The sounds outside had awoken the blue dragon from her sleep and kept her tense as she listened.

The tunnel was shallow, only reaching about forty feet underground, but it kept her relatively safe at night while she slept. The female's long snake-like body could easily fit in the narrow space that was only about seven feet wide. Most dragons wouldn't be able to fit their large bodies inside of the tunnel unless they were like her, slender and long with thin shoulders. Her wings could collapse tight enough around her body so that she only had to widen the tunnel a bit more than what she could fit her shoulders into.

More sounds of dragons screaming along with snarls and "swooshing" sounds echoed through her tunnel. She could only assume that there was some big fight happening above her, and for once in her life Rii wished that she had her family or a tribe to back her up. It was these kinds of attacks that made her think about joining up with a tribe or group.

Nervously Rii hopes the fighting dragons don't find her hiding place. She only had two escape routes. Out front of her and behind. In this position she couldn't even get her claws and tail spikes covered in venom to ready herself for the attack. She waits then hoping a dragon doesn't start digging at either entrance of her tunnel.

I still stood, still mad at the dragon before me. I snarled at that fact that they were taking this land over for fun. Dragons with families lived here, and they didn't even care. I narrowed my eyes at her when her mood changed all of a sudden, it was strange. I almost felt comforted by this, but my scales were uneasy. The sound my throat made when I was sad were coming now, almost chocking me. I don't know why I didn't fight it, fly away this was only one dragon. Only one dragon with a whole battalion behind her. I just went limp in her maw, a tear coming to my eye. Not only was it chocking myself but it was almost humiliating. I tried to snarl it away but it wouldn't. Maybe it was her motherly actions and her way of understanding. I looked up at Lead, pain in my mind. "Don't." I said softly. All I knew now is that my life would be over, even if they weren't going to kill me

Sly smirked at Occulus's command. The dictator actually sent his own medic to assist those below him. Surely he knew the risks. If Sly abandoned his post, not only Occulus would be more vulnerable, but Sly himself would be as well. After all, being the only available healer here carried many responsibilities.

As you command, he said before dropping off the cliff edge. His wings stretched, he glided to the captured rogues. The Nightwings' wounds were all superficial, but Sly knew to expect the worse from a mere cut. Especially from a rogue named Lead. He clenched his fangs a little when he had to fix what one of the Nightwings did to the rogue. Nightstar was her name. Sly would be a fool if he had not educated himself with the trackers of the Nightwings.

Sly landed in the front lines with the dragons that attacked Lead. Merely he glanced over their wounds. As he expected--nothing that needed even a leaf of his precious herbs. Sly chose not to carry any dressings, needing space in his pouch for medicines against more fatal ailments. Besides, the Nightwings had a very powerful ally. The night itself.

Now to the rogues.

Sly stiffened at the second one. It was a female one, with scales that he mistook for those of his kind. She was comparable to Lead, putting up very little resistance despite how Nightstar handled her in her maw.

Interesting Sly thought as he found amusement through Lead's rage. This female rogue meant something to him. No doubt anyone could use her to put this more...ruthless rogue in line.

Well, Sly began as he marched away from his comrades and towards the wounded rogue. A wide and menacing smirk across his snout, he pressed his wings close to his ribs, readying his attack if anyone dared to jump at him. He sensed more rogues in the area, but the scent was very vague. They were hiding, either for their own safety or to attack at the right moment. Sly assumed the worst. It seems we meet again rogue. Last time we met, I remember you...trespassing...the territory of one of my former comrades? How does it feel... his eyes changed from green to yellow as he dropped to a glare, ...to be the one who is trespassed?

Sly bent his legs low, ready to move if Lead decided to lunge at him. Of course, Sly must not kill him. Occulus's orders. Even if Lead attacking would override that order, Sly would insist no one interfere with his 'patient'. Lead needed help, and Sly must deliver.

Xangor thought Lead has received enough humiliation. In fact Oculus ordered to not interfere anymore. However the rogue didn't seem to have learnt the lesson. Xangor could still see the pride and arrogance coming from Lead's eyes. The rogue was still keeping insulting the NightWing in the attempt to make them to look bad. Lead seemed to be somewhat the leader of these rogues. Xangor knew how to humiliate him. But first he will follow Oculus instructions. "Of course, my Emperor, I'll make sure these lands will be unattackable." Xangor nodded before to speak with his subordinates and pass Oculus orders. His troops immediately obeyed, diligently accomplishing the tasks. The invasion proceeds perfectly Xangor thought with a satisfied laugh. He couldn't believe to have captured so many rogues. All new servaints ready to serve the Empire. And many territories for the NightWings. Xangor couldn't wait to update the Pyyria map and send a copy to every tribe leader and write in a message. Update your maps. The NightWings have now the biggest empire. However this was a playful thought in Xangor's mind. He didn't have the intention to spread rumours. Better other tribes would discover late about the NightWings sudden rise. Xangor was distracted by NightStar's arrival. He glanced contented at her. She has captured another rogue. "Well done." Xangor congratuled NightStar. This one seemed to be a rogue NightWing. Xangor would investigate about her later. There were many things to do first. One was to humiliate Lead in front of all the captured rogues. Too many insults. None should dare to insult the NightWings. Xangor first summoned a shadow claw to grab Lead's snout in a strong and painful grip. Then, using the shadow claw, Xangor forcely turned Lead's face towards the captured rogues. Xangor growled at the crowd to start his speech. "This night has proved your life as rogues is pathetic and dangerous. You cannot even trust each other." Xangor rudely showed Lead towards the captured rogues, still making sure the shadow claws would keep Lead under control, not allowing him to speak. "This rogue is your best fighter. He claims to protect you. But he confronted the NightWings completely alone, knowing he couldn't stand a chance, consumed by his egoism. Blame this pompous and pampered traitor! This rogue deserves to have your hate. His actions have condamned all of you to a humiliating defeat!" Xangor finally concluded, amused to repeat Lead's words of hate against him. This would definitely convince the rogues they were supporting the wrong cause. But there was still something important to say to the prisoners. "Tonight you have lost your territories and indipendence. But tomorrow our Emperor Oculus will grant you a better and safe life." Xangor explained to the crowd. He'd like to add other words, but he was interrupted by one of his subordinates. It seemed there were other problems. According to reports, it appeared there was a rogue hiding somewhere. It was possible to smell scent traces left by a rogue in an area. But it wasn't possible to find the rongue. Xangor was angry to hear this. He wanted to punish his subordinates for their incompetence. Sadly, there was always someone mediocre. The perfect army was maybe a dream even for the NightWings. Xangor needed to personally investigate, so he followed his troops. "Allistair, come with me." Xangor ordered while allowing the guards to escort all the captured rogues in the valley. Xangor started himself to track down the scent of a rogue, but he couldn't find it. His night vision would allow him to see the rogue. But he couldn't see it. Then he realized the rogue would hide underground. It wasn't in the sky. It wasn't on the ground. So logically it was underground. EarthWings were especially able to dig underground tunnels. Xangor ordered his troops to start digging where the ground seemed to be alterated. One of the NightWings eventually found a place where to dig, presumably where Rii was hiding. Xangor smirked contented. He would soon capture another rogue. Xangor hoped the other troops would secure the borders soon. It'd be bad that one the remaining rogues would manage to escape.

Alistair smiled in pleasure as Xangor ordered her to follow him.

Let's bring any remaining rogues to their knees.

Alistair sauntered behind Xangor, helping him in silence by attempting to scent any more victims. When her lord ordered the troops to begin digging, she nodded and obeyed. She added a little heat to the scales padding her paws, hoping a little firepower will make the operation go faster.

In the midst of her digging, when Ali swiped another paw into the soil, the edges of her claws met stuffy air instead of dirt. It touched her sense of pride that Alistair had dug into a tunnel. And where there is a tunnel... There may be a rogue.

I still felt bad, mostly for MoonWing. When he comes back to my cave... He's going to go crazy. I glanced up at the army, knowing they would just tear him to shreads. Xangor's speech was confusing, us rogues never look to each other for help, and Lead never promised to protect us. 'He might just be crazy.' I thought silently. Listening to the last part of his speech made me cringe, I glanced up at the dragon who held me, putting my feet on the ground and trying to push away out of her grip. Fear struck me, being in a tribe.

When Xangor used the shadow claw to force his jaws closed, Lead snorted in surprise but made no attempt to free himself. Icy cold mist fell from the openings in his jaws and nose where the shadow claw did not grip. Lead ate up Xangors words of hatred and went limp, no tension left. When his head was turned toward the rogues, he closed his eyes.

Acer realised it was a foolish idea to venture so far from his territory, especially with this Nightwing army on the loose. He was incredibly surprised he hadn't been noticed as he slunk away, deeper into the forest.
He felt terrible for those rogues, but he knew there was no way of saving them. There had to have been at least five Nightwings there.
Nowhere was safe right now, during the night. He barely thought of his cave hewn into the mountain, or the borders of his territory.
He was also incredibly surprised his armour hadn't clanked and given away his position to anyone within a hundred meters...
The next thing he knew was being at his cave, and sniffing.
Nightwing scent. Isn't that just perfect, Eh? I get here from a war, only to end up right in the middle of another one.
He looked around, alarmed.

Sly froze in his path when a shadow claw loomed from the dark and snared Lead's snout, forcing the helpless victim towards the gathering of captured rogues. He quickly knew it was Xangor's magic when he began the heart-wrenching speech condescending the rogues. It was a little too much, even for Sly to handle. He doubted this humiliation was anymore necessary. Standard protocol, he assumed.

Look at the two. Sly saw those emotions. Sadness. Fear. Defeat. He somewhat felt a bit of sympathy for these new prisoners. They had a home. Children perhaps. The children. Sly cringed a little and hid his expression from the rest of the Nightwings--not that he needed to as they were busy craning their heads to Xangor and roaring their praises.

Stay strong, he told himself. He shook his head a little and stood with a proud chest. His grin was gone. He didn't notice until the end of the speech. Sly was about to speak up, demanding that Xangor complete what Oculus commanded him to do and leave his 'patients' alone. He kept his maw shut. Especially to an officer, Oculus would not look favourably on Sly if he publicly humiliate a higher up.

Now that Xangor had business elsewhere, Sly could finally deal with the two rogues. Lead obviously needed more attention. The fang marks on the other rogue didn't seem fatal at all. Although Lead's will to fight may seem broken, Sly feared the worst, and he marched forward with his wings kept close. He didn't need to tell the Nightwing dragons to eye out for any signs that may indicate the rogue would attack.

You were one menacing dragon the last time I saw you, Sly said calmly, forcing his usual smirk. I will admit, I never expected one like you in need of...treatment.

He dropped his knapsack, the seams opening a little to reveal the numerous herbs and bottles Sly tried to keep organised inside. He let Lead see so that they were just medicines, and he intended no harm. It could be a fatal mistake of his, as he was revealing to the enemy his position as a key figure in the army. It would depend on how broken Lead's mind is as of now.

I will need to fix that as well, Sly thought. Not before he is properly restrained of course.

Lead's eyes were still closed but he knew the exact position of the Nightwing healer, thanks to his hyper-sensitive hearing. His ears flicked to and fro, listening to Sly as he moved. He let a low growl of acknowledgement when Sly spoke but since his head was still wrenched to the side and forced shut, it sounded strained. Lead's muscles were now tensed and his tail lashed back and forth in hostility. He flapped his wings once or twice.

Rii held her breath counting the minutes as they went by. She scooted herself into the middle of the long tunnel hoping the danger would just pass her by. However, fate did not seem to pity the female dragon. She hissed softly as a dragon started digging at her entrance hole. Their claws cut through the earth as her eyes widened in fear. She hissed louder this time even opening her mouth to display sharp teeth and fangs towards her pursuer. Rii's body tenses up considerably readying the female dragon for an attack. In this kind of enclosed space she couldn't move very much, but she still had a sense of security from the earthen walls around her. Not thinking about backing out of her den and running just yet, Rii inched closer to the entrance of the tunnel where a dragon was digging. She tensed herself in a striking position readying the venom in her fangs.

She was utterly silent now. Not making and noise and confident that the tunnel's darkness could hide her. Then the woman struck out at the extended hand/paw/claw of the dragon digging at her dens entrance. It was a lightning fast move sure to deliver a nice venomous bite should it hit. Though it would be hard for her to miss at this distance with a dragon sticking their arms into a hole not knowing what was inside.

Sly shook his head slowly as the rogue thrashed about. That fool. It would do nothing more than tear and infect his wounds. He had to be glad that the ice layers formed a pretty good seal over them, but it wouldn't last.

Eventually, Sly had waited long enough. Listen Lead! He snapped. Put aside your reckless and stubborn behaviour, which has already put you in our claws, and sit still. Sly cocked his head up and slightly to the side in a mocking expression. Certainly, you will need all your strength before anything happens to that precious rogue of yours over there. He beckoned to the Nightwing rogue. Sly intentionally made the last line subtle. Could he be helping the rogues? Or is he toying with the rogue, perhaps knowing fully well that his full strength is not enough? Now be a good boy and lie down. And maybe I will ask Xangor to take that...muzzle...off your snout.

Lead's flattened his ears to his head and snorted. He wanted so bad to be free of his restraint and rip the limbs off this Nightwing's puny body in front of all his comrades but to do that he had to be free and it seemed that the only way he would even get that small chance, he would have to 'behave'. Lead's eyes shot open and he examined Sly's herbs and such.

Acer glanced around the forest, before hesitantly clambering up a tree, jumping onto the treetops.
He could be spotted more easily up here, but he couldn't get ambushed above the canopy, out in the open freedom of the sky.
He thought back to the rogues captured by the Nightwings.
There was a considerable number of them. If they could work together, they might be able to escape. He shook off the thought. Rogues wouldn't be able to work together, and never have. He danced across the treetops, foolishly following the tail of his own curiosity, towards the Nightwings.

Nightstar glanced down at the dragoness to make sure that she was holding up well. She hung a bit limp in her arms so she slightly loosened her grip. When Xangor gave the rogues a speech, she felt proud and a bit upset at the same time. At that moment, she looked at Lead and immediatly looked away. He looked so depressed with himself. Did she had to torture him already? Did Xangor truly had to humiliate him to that point? Night knew for sure that these memories would haunt him forever. After he finished his speech and left with Alistair, Sly went right to work on the new 'paitents'. Knowing that the female should also get a treatment, she brought her over to Sly. "Hey. Umm, can you also heal this one? She has a few injuries. Please don't hurt her. I'll see her later." Without waiting, again, she left him to his buisness and walked a distance to where there was a patch of land with a lake. She sat in the sand, tail curled up around her and thought if returning was a good idea or a regret.

The digging was proceeding successfully. The NightWings would open a way inside the refuge soon. Something snapped from the hole, attacking a NightWing on the feet. However It didn't seem to have received much damage. The rogue has been finally located. It was exactly what Xangor wanted. They should only focus their efforts on that point. "I want one scout to patrol the area from the sky" He gave other orders to make sure the battlefield was under his complete control. There were odds the hole would have another entrance where the rogue could escape. Then Xangor could proceed with the next part of the plan. He summoned a couple of shadow claws to sneak them inside the hole, thanks to the half-opening created by the continuous digging. "Keep digging. This rogue is nearly in my paws." Xangor spoke while the trap was ready. If the rogue would try to snap again, then Xangor was going to grab it by the neck with his shadow claws to forcefully drag the rogue outside.

Echostorm stood, deep within her labyrinthine home, counting her crystals. It was both how she had gone without noticing the Nightwings, and how they had not noticed her. The entrance was a simple hole in the wall, covered in vines. A tight squeeze for a 15-meter tall dragon with crystal scales. Of course, there were other exits. One straight above a cavern that wasn't too far from her lair that lead to the sky. One that lead out the bottom of a nearby hill, and the one in her pool, where she got her water.That exit lead out into a lake, so she never used it. But it was there, just in case, hidden by plants. She took the crystals that needed smoothing or polishing and put them in a bucket, and decided that tonight was far too nice a night NOT to do this outside. Scales clinking she walked towards the sky exit and flew to the top of a hill, where she could sit overlooking the forests. She set to work, her scales glimmering, reflecting the light of the moon. If any Nightwings flew near, they were sure to spot her.

(OOC Note:Her tunnels are a maze she dug herself, with many dead-ends. Her lair is in the center.)

Lynx, being the new Icewing queen, was strolling around the Icewing's makeshift castle. She had heard the news of the Nightwings that where advancing into rogue territories, and was coming close to her kingdom's borders. She gripped her talons into the ice, unsure of was to do. {If the Nightwings attacked the Icewings, we would lose surely. Plus, that mean that the other tribes could get hostile with the Nightwings, as they saw them attacking us, and they fight back, and a big war happens and-} Lynx bit herself to stop her fretful rambling. Dots of blood arose from the bite mark and she grabbed some snow to wipe it off.

Lynx spread her wings to take off and check out the southern border, but it would take some time just to reach it. With the cold, bitter air rushing around her, Lynx felt safer already. She dove down and did a few circles, laughing. A bird flew next to her, but she didn't attempt to catch it. Soon, she saw the end of the snowy tundra and dipped down to land. he would walk until she met the Nightwings.
(BTW, Lynx doesn't know that the Nightwings will not be attacking her tribe)

(I have no idea who's smaller than her or larger so I don't know who's faster...but she's trying to escape now - assuming her attack hit somebody - )

Rii snarled dangerously at the nightwings just waiting a bit longer for her venom to take effect. Unfortunately by the sounds up above her the bluish dragon could tell that there were many more dragons digging for her than she wanted. Even with one of the nightwings incapacitated by her venom she would likely have three or more chasing after her in the skies. Still, she would rather have three going after her rather than four.

When she was sure the dragon hit by her would be feeling the effects of her venom, Rii scooted backwards in her long tunnel until her back end was sticking out of the exit hole. Then Once she could grip from the outside Rii quickly slithers herself out into one large coil. As expected there were other dragons out and about digging at the earth in random places. They hadn't found her second exit yet, which was very lucky on her part, but now that she was out in full view Rii didn't have a lot of time to flee.

Jumping up into the trees for cover, Rii scooted through the branches as fast as she could. She didn't look back to see if the others were following her or attacking, instead she focused on escape. She leaped from the canopy into the sky and stretched out her wings to beat at the air angrily, but was it too late?

Sly wasted no second and began treating Lead--broken both physically and mentally. To be used as an example by Xangor, and then to be brought to a lowly dog...it would be very surprising if this rogue--or any dragon--could survive with their sanity intact.

The wounds were no big deal. Nightstar left a few scars, surrounded by hideous purple marks which were signs of healing. The scar itself had its edges creep to the cleaner scales, obviously resulted from the mindless lashing about.

A potion was all he needed.

Before he could fish one, Nightstar approached before him. The Nightwing rogue slumped onto the ground below her, and Nightstar briefly insisted Sly to treat her as well. Sly nodded his approval, though he found her soft and caring tone very unmoving. This was definitely not the Nightstar he saw diving on Lead.

Very interesting, Sly thought as Nightstar left them. He found the potion he needed and took a step forward.

Lead still had his eyes on him, and showed no signs of aggression. Sly was dangerously close, and was certain that if Xangor take his shadow claw off Lead, Lead could jump on Sly before he could retaliate.

He was about to pour the potion onto the wounds, when he remembered those ice layers. Sly needed to get rid of them if the potion was to be absorbed more effectively. He had nothing in his bag that could melt ice, and he doubt Lead could remove them in his will.

Only one choice left.

Drink, Sly commanded. He needed Lead to open his lips at the corners. With that claw on him, he could not deliver it elsewhere. Then again, Lead may regurgitate the potion. Sly had taken a sip before. Not only did it smelled like decaying taro, but it tasted like sweetened vomit. The expression on his patient's face would be amusing, but it wouldn't please Oculus if Lead did not drink it.

As for the Nightwing rogue, it seemed she only sustained superficial wounds over her neck. Unlike Lead, she was not restrained, but her will seemed broken as well. This invasion had already taken its toll on the rogues. No doubt it would be part of history, and all of this would forever burn as a haunting memory to the two. Sly doubt he could fix that.

And it made his heart sink.

I will deal with you next, he said to the Nightwing. Then he turned to Lead. You wish not to let her see you suffer, do you not? Relax and drink this. He didn't wait for his response before shoving the lip of the vial through the lips until it clinked onto the fangs, and he tilted it down.

Sly then jumped away, keeping himself away from the rogue in case Lead decided to thrash about again. Even if he didn't, Sly turned to the Nightwing rogue. I am the Nightwing medic, Sly. Do you have a name?
