Many find it hard to do what they love, be it through unforeseen events or lack of motivation. Some are able to rise above the challenges through perseverance and hard work. They then go on to live comfortable lives, nestled in the bosom of luxury. They then forget from whence they came, and ignore that possibility that perhaps life outside of their own is imperfect. They begin to only think of themselves.

Alyär Iris Iza Draekus was a woman known for her resourcefulness. She had made a name for herself in the sea fairing city, having started from humble beginnings and quickly climbed her way to the top of the food chain. But the woman held an air of mystery to her.

Though Lady Draekus wasn't one to encourage rumors. She'd merely chuckle and what the townspeople thought of her. It didn't make a difference to her either way how she was viewed, as long as she had her business.

You see, Lady Draekus was the head of a successful trading company stationed in Brysur. This was certainly unusual, considering how women were generally viewed as inferior by many men. She owned a variety of fishing boats, and had a large manor located in Brysur, with a gorgeous sea front view. However, she was rarely home, as she enjoyed being immersed in her company.

Currently, Miss Iza was on her way home from a business trip. The ship would dock,
and the men would busy themselves rushing about to properly secure it the boat.
Alyär would exit the boat, taking in a deep breath of the fresh ocean air. Absolutely beautiful. She had always been a sucker for the sea. It simply seemed to call to her.

Glancing over at her boat, she'd notice the men still scrambling about. She figured it'd be a while until she had any paperwork she needed to start filling out back at her manor. So, perhaps she could wander for a bit, enjoy the sights of the city's gorgeous harbor.

Or maybe she would take a gander at venturing into the woods.

So many choices, not enough time! She'd sigh, her muscles relaxing. Perhaps today might not have been the best time to wear her dress, she thought. It was a beautiful yellow dress which she had worn to her meeting. She also wore a feathered, orange and white long hat, which was doing wonders at concealing her from the sun.

Once her guards had gotten off the boat, they made their way back to her manor. But Alyär wasn't planning on staying. She simply desired to return so she could change into something a bit more comfortable and humble. A less stiff, blue and gray dress, which was something that wouldn't draw so much attention to herself. After she had changed, she headed down to the market, humming casually to herself, enjoying the views of the forest and trail as she walked.

Success in the Eye of a Hurricane [[Open to All]] Empty Re: Success in the Eye of a Hurricane [[Open to All]]

It wasn't often Xyrik Dax found the time to go on a hunting trip. When he did it was often very nice and something the man relished, especially since it wasn't common. He had been to plenty of places by now and killed plenty of game. The prize he was most proud of from this trip was a snowy sabre cat, caught in the cold lands near Kryo. He had carried the beast to a merchant there who skinned the cat's hide to use for whatever they planned to use it for. Xyrik didn't care, as long as he got a prize. He was given a handful of coins, and was also given permission to take the great cat's fangs as a trophy.

It was a good day.

However, Xyrik didn't have much luck today.

He thought he had hunted everywhere in the world, but Brysur was new. The forest he was hunting in was very close to the city, which meant there wasn't much game to kill. It was quite close to the beach as well. The animal he was chasing now was not as grand as the sabre cat he had killed earlier-- in fact, it was more like a mockery. It was a fluffy white goose, honking as Xyrik Dax chased it angrily, his spear raised. Just as the man thought he was going to run the spear through the goose, the bird took a sharp turn around a person he didn't see before.

He bumped into someone in shock, stumbling back in a daze. The birb seemed smug, waddling proudly away from the two humans. It was a noblewoman, Xyrik assumed by her attire. The huntsman would have said sorry if he wasn't without a voice, but instead he stared at her in shock through his helmet. All he could do was stare, before his gaze shifted to the earth in shame. He couldn't speak. . . So what was there to say? Xyrik was naturally shy, so it wasn't like he had the chance to interact with others often.

Madam Draekus would continue her walk towards the beautiful seaside town, only slightly regretting her decision not to come by horse. Her manor was quite a way away from the town, after all. But on the other hand, she did quite enjoy the soft ocean breeze against her skin. It carried so many wonderful memories with it. Who knew something as simple as the ocean could invoke such wonderful thoughts of nostalgia and peace, she thought to herself, humming a bit in glee as she continued.

It really was a gorgeous day today, though. Beautiful blue sky, clear of clouds, and full of the distant cries of seagulls. And not a dragon in sight. Not that the winged lizards often flew this close to human territory. It was simply wonderful.

She'd continue to walk, in an almost absent, blissful state. She didn't often get time to relax, with all the work that often piled up on her. It was certainly unusual. The town was now much more clearly in view. Looking around, she could see some shops and homes, but this wasn't really the area she wanted to be. This was a more urban setting, before you arrived at the venues and shops where she wanted to be.

Then, she began to hear a honking noise, the sound of a goose. She wasn't particularly interested or cared, as there were many geese around these parts. However, the honking grew louder, and she turned to see a goose heading straight for her.  She remained, however, unfazed, as the avian circled around her.

She'd watch it absently, before she felt something bump into her. A man. A hunter by the looks of it. Had he been chasing down the foul? She watched him with disinterest as he seemed to duck his head down, looking almost ashamed, but didn't say anything.

Regardless, the woman smiled, "There is no need to be ashamed, young man. It was but an accident, I presume." she'd say elegantly. She didn't seem very moved by the accident, and still retained a rather regal posture.

The smile of the woman made Xyrik relax, his broad shoulders loosening up. That was very kind of her to be so calm. . . Most noble fellows he came across would be snobby and have a 'holier than thou' attitude, but not this lady. She was much nicer, and that Xyrik liked. All the mute huntsman could do in response was return a smile underneath the deer skull of a helmet and dip his head kindly, yet it was also a sort of nod. He was saying that yes, it was an accident. He wished there was another way he could say sorry without looking pitiful.

How was he supposed to speak properly to his lass? Xyrik didn't do much talking to anyone at all. He was bashful indeed, but he wasn't impolite He didn't just want to leave the woman though. But. . . what if that is what she wanted? For him to just leave her be? Xyrik wasn't good at reading others, either, so he couldn't read anything about this woman, except that she was friendly.

The huntsman exhaled. Maybe, if he could show her his issue. . .

He kneeled to the ground, got out his spear, and wrote, "Sorry. Cannot talk."

Alyar watched the man with mild fascination, as he seemed to awkwardly stare over at her. Because of his mask, it was difficult to tell exactly what the stranger was thinking, but she did sense tension in the air. She wasn't all that surprised, to be honest. Most commoners who encountered her tended to be either submissive and awed, or angry and rude. The anger usually came from past experiences with nobles. This man certainly seemed like the first of the two options, though she couldn't tell for sure.

She watched as he began to lean down, and started to write something in the dirt. At first, Alyar was a bit confused, watching him. Then, when he had finished writing, he leaned back, and the noblewoman saw that he had stated he was mute. Well, wasn't that an interesting development. I all her 52 years she had never encountered a mute person before. It was rather intriguing.

"Mute, eh? I see. So that's why you haven't said anything..." she commented, looking him over once more, "Tell me, what do you call yourself?" she asked.
