Hard Choices (Private with Nihlus)

Tempest raises her paw in frustration, cracking her claws as she growls in annoyance. After So long, she still had so many things which she had to take care of. The guardians, sentinels and the most important role, no one seemed to be taking it. Deciding to take a break from this aggravating work, she stretched her wings and went for a walk through the FireWing halls. Tempests' claws gently rang through the quiet halls, which brought sadness to her heart. She'd have to change that-and soon.

She made her way to the lake, before she stopped and stared at it. She needed help with this, someone who could be strong enough to almost beat her in a duel, protect her people, and lead her beloved FireWings while she was busy, but no one seemed to fit this role just yet. "Maybe i'm just looking in the wrong places." Said quietly to her reflection, sadness woven through her voice.

Nihlus listened closely while examining her expression. He felt horrible. He had frightened his own leader.. How could he have been so ignorant and snapped at her like he had? He frowned at her question, shaking her head briefly. "I did not engage myself with Firewing politics at that time, unfortunately. It was easily the least of my concerns. Sorry." He dipped his head respectively. "And.. I also apologize for my actions. I.. did not mean to snap.."

Tempest nodded several times, inwardly, she was a bit sad that he didn't know but she did her best to not let that show on her features. "Oh well, it is not a matter of great importance, I shall just need to go and consult rather large books and scrolls to find out what happened." Tempest said with a bit of a grin on her face. "And please, do not worry about scaring me-I just wasn't expecting it, that is all." She explained, trying to reassure him a bit. Then she sighs, a grin on her face, "I'm so glad you applied to be a lieutenant.. you'll make a good second in command."

Nihlus hated to disappoint his queen, being a loyal as he was. He lowered his head. "Apologies..." He apologized once again. He realized that he had been saying sorry way too much. His eyes widened at Tempest's next comment. He had made the rank! "Oh thank you! I promise I won't let you down."

Tempest smiles gently at Nihlus and she says something which she truly meant,"I know that you won't, but I need you to understand... That maybe one day, I will not be coming home. I may die on the battlefield, and if this happens, I need you to promise me that you will find a new king or queen to take my place. But I know that you will do your best to protect me." Tempest grins at him, before taking down another bottle of stronger drinks, offering him one.
