The Mentor Program

Joining new sites can be intimidating. There's all these new rules to learn and a whole bunch of lore to get used to. Even the amount of people to memorize the names of can get overwhelming. For this we have the Mentor Program. Any new member and even existing ones can chose a mentor from our list of mentors. The mentors job is to be the person you can go to for any question or concern under the sun or above. They'll guide you through the site and help you get acclimated. In addition they'll help you get started in some RP by RPing with you.

Below is our current list of mentors and who is looking for mentees.

Description: I'm a busy gal who owns a time consuming business and runs this site. I can be rather blunt and serious. Under that I am always thinking about others and what to do to improve the site. I don't really talk about my personal life much but I'm into people, anime, motercycles, guns, archery, tennis, writing, and most of all talking. Most often when someone asks me what we should do my most common answer is can we just chat?
RP Style: Deep character development is my largest focus. I like to write rich and impactful rps typically with my character suffering. Rather than saying what my characters weaknesses are I rp them into existence. For me to take interest the rp has to either have an impact on my character or be of high interest. I try to put quality into everything I write.

Activity: I am here every day, even when I'm not logged on. To be honest, I will post to topics everyday as long as there's topics to reply to--and I am in the mood to post. Sometimes I'm not. If I reply to this person's topic but not yours? I'm either trying to decide how I want to respond, didn't have time/mental energy for more than one post, or am simply really into a particular character--I have several--at the moment. If it's the latter, just give me a little reminder and I'll hop onto whatever character I need to to get your topic moving along.

Description: For some reason, I'm probably the most liked person on this site. Don't ask why, I really have no idea--that reminds me, I'm pretty modest. I'm that family member who sits in the corner watching everyone else having a good time and doesn't really seem to be enjoying myself at all. That's ususally not true, though. If you're a gamer, I'll talk about games I like. If you like to draw, I'll coment on whatever you show me, maybe offer to draw your favorite animal. If you like Star Wars (No... you don't have to like the Prequels...), you're automatically my friend. Other than that the bulk of my conversation is: "Hey. How are you?.. *starts talking about anything related to the site*" If you somehow make it to my highest tier of friends, I'll probably open up to you more. Compared to other staff here, I'm very laid back. But that doesn't mean I'll let you do whatever.
   
RP Style: My RP style... hm. Basically, I usually don't care about character developement. I just like to have fun doing random RPs. But sometimes I want to tell a story or just be really mean to one of my characters and tear their world apart. When I'm just having fun, my posts are short except for the intro. And when I'm really into the character, my posts--I hope--paint a picture for the reader.

I have an unintentional tendency to come up with character concepts that come at odds with some systems in place, but I always try and make sure the admins allow these things before I make them. I'm pretty easy to get along with, and I'm very good at talking... sometimes a bit too good, I tend to ramble. I'm a lover of dergs, dinos, and DnD alike, and am a serious geek on several subjects akin to them.
RP Style: In role play scenarios I play a wide variety of things. I've made things as innocent as a small cub trying to find her way to an eight foot tall lizard man that eats people, so I'm no stranger to variety. Politics in established roleplay settings fascinate me, and only recently have I made characters focused on this.-----------------------------------------

Description: Well, I'm a hyperactive, sci-fi geek, nerdy, outdoorsy, southern, sports fan, mechanical engineering collage student. My mind sometimes works way too fast for my own good, but I tend to me down to earth. Also, my common sense sometimes decides to take a break, and don't understand text talk, so I may ask what you mean by something.
RP Style: I usually try to be detailed, but I'll do short posts if a topic or post's more suited for it. I also tend to post quickly, probably thanks to that hyperactivity mentioned above. Also, I like make odd and unique characters, I have a few different characters. As long as I can get the idea of what's happening across in the post, I'm happy with it.

Activity: Activity, especially in these school months, is rather hard. Now that I'm officially in high school I have a lot of homework with AP classes, and in the winter and spring sports won't help with that. I would do my best to be as active as possible, but understand that this may be the determining factor. Weekends are probably going to be my big posting days, but I might be able to sneak in other times throughout the week. I will almost always be able to talk on discord though, so any urgent questions can be asked then, I just won't be able to respond during class. I'd hope this would help me become more active on this site and let me help out with the community again.

Description: I'm a very busy person, but when I'm not doing homework or hanging out with my friends then I'm looking for someone to talk to. I own a decent collection of plants, including carniverous (yes, that means flytraps), air plants, a few succulents, and a lot of random ones. I also like to draw, write, play sports, play games; I like to do a lot. If you'd ever need help with anything off site, may it be homework or advice, I'd always try and help to the best of my abilities. I'm in Spanish III at the time this was written, so I can also help a bit with spanish or possibly anyone who does speak spanish. I have two cats, a dog, some fish, and recently, a little brother.

I am PST time, usually waking up at 5:30am, being in school from 7:50am-2:20pm, and with sports ~4-6pm and going to bed 9-10pm. So times that I'm not at school and not sleeping are the best time to contact me.

RP Style: I am a very thorough rper, meaning that I like to try and provide as much detail as I can to make it easier for the next person to reply. I'm not very picky on how you reply, as long as it is more than two sentences, and can hopefully give me something to go off of. I attempt not to manipulate your character, unless I have permission, and then it's mostly to move on the story. I like character development, not just rushing something on but taking your time and thinking out how your character would react and how it's going to change them in the long run. Because of that, I also like to finish rps and only do one, or maybe two, rps with a character at a time. Grammar is also a big thing for me, like when to use commas or indent your paragraphs, putting yourself last when you say "Aero and I." Things like that I always like to work on with other people, as it will help not only in rp but in life as well.

Welcome to Baldirak's School of Dragon RP! Your first lesson: Look everywhere. If you look at the very first post, you'll notice that it does indeed say I am looking for more mentees. Well, really the only thing I need is to get my dragon approved (haven't been able to finish him as the page refreshes if I am away for too long) and some RP practice. I also said the second part because in your first post in the topic the status changes from looking for mentees and the force thing to just the force thing

That's because the first post is just a copy of the second, an app. We can certainly get you some rp practice, but first you gotta get approved. You can just post what you have done already and add WIP to the title so I'll know you're not finished yet.

Could I be "mentored" by Baldirak?

Ok, here's a pile of questions that I want to ask and I can think of right now:

A. What are Dragon Points?
B. How do I earn Dragon Points?
C. Where is this "DP shop" and how do I get to it?
D. When making a character, do I just make a topic in the section (ex. a topic in the Approved EarthWings section for an EarthWing) with the form? This confuses me because the sections are called "Approved (Character type)" and not just "(Character type)."

No such thing as too many questions.

1. Dragon Points are part of a reward system we have here. You can exchange them for various prizes, including additional abilities for your character. You can read more about it here: http://www.rpgdragons.org/t4803-guide-to-dp-ap-and-wp-part-of-the-dp-revamp?highlight=revamp

2. You earn Dragon Points simply by RPing. You get a few points for each post you make. To get a lot fast, you can submit completed roleplays to the DP Story Submission section. http://www.rpgdragons.org/f82-dp-story-submission (Note: scroll down to the new topic button, don't post it in Finished Processing)

3. There is no, DP Shop, per se. Once you have acquired enough DP to get what you want, you can simply tell a staff member that you're ready to exchange your DP for whatever it is. However, if you're wanting to use your DP to get a new ability for your character, it must be approved. You make a post here: http://www.rpgdragons.org/f78-ability-creation You must describe the ability, of course.

3.5 Just a side note in case you decide to make more than one character. DP transfer is only allowed for obtaining minor rewards. Otherwise, if you want to obtain something like an ability for your character, you may only use DP you obtained with that character.

Yes, they're basically the same thing. Apothecary is just what the SkyWing leader chose to rename the rank for that tribe. The only real difference is Apothecaries also use and make potions.

And what is your site activity level? Discord doesn't matter much because it's really just for chatting and all of our RP is done here.

It has a tendency to ebb and flow with the site, but I try to be as active as I can

Activity: I am generally popping in and out, usually hanging around both the site and the discord itself however I don't get in the sites chatbox as my phone can get... funky with it. To give you an idea, I usually work from 10AM-4/5PM five out of seven days during which I poof on for a good thirty minutes to maybe an hour around 8AM. Once off work, I get on about 6 or 7PM and just watch or imvve myself in chat or RP. I can remain active till between 11PM and 1AM

Description: Well, I'm chill. I'm am calm and relaxed as always and have a sense of humor. I think that's anyone though. I am very patient, easy going, and understanding of any situation and tend to abide to the law of the Admins. I enjoy RP with anyone and love talking about the actual characters, what they're going through, what decisions they could make and so forth but what I enjoy is a good story that a Roleplay topic can make the site. One of the things I also enjoy talking about are reptiles, insects, and amphibians (which I never really talk about because no one ever brings them up XD), but overall I enjoy a conversation with people and am easy to get along with. I will answer any question peeps have if I get to it first and will try to be as helpful as possible.

RP Style: I tend to get involved in whatever RP I can if it interests me. For example, stuff involving conflict, politics, and surviving as a whole are my kinks so to say, but I also like a good ol' PVP RP, just between two or even three characters.
