New contest : Tribe customs
Well it has been some time since the last contest, so time for another one! This one will be a bit particular though as it will actually not be one contest alone, but one per Tribe. Yup, you heard it, that's as many times the amount of rewards!
So, what will this contest be about? Simply making our Tribes more detailed with customs! At the moment, we don't know much about how our dragons live within their Tribes. Sure, you may have your own sweet cave, have your little events but we lack something that makes us a Tribe, we lack customs.
Have you ever thought of a children story that would fit your tribe? A festival that would display the greatness of your Tribe? Maybe a particular form of art that scholars from the whole world would want to see? Perhaps something cute related to hatchlings? Well it's time to post it!
I will post the topics for each tribe soon, this thread is only here for discussions about the contest itself. Rewards have to be set as well, but know for the moment that they will include a custom title - Loremaster - and glows for each of the Tribes! The number of submissions is not limited, so don't hesitate to suggest things for every Tribe! Once all ideas will have been submitted, the leaders of each Tribe will have to chose which customs they will accept so they become part of the Tribe's lore.
Here are a few examples of submissions that would go for the Skywings. As they are inspired from a similar thread that happened to be for the Wind Flight of Flight Rising, they won't be part of my own submissions for the contest - but hey I hope the Skywing leader will accept them! (especially the hatchling one. Wheeeeeee!)
Once a year, the Skywings organize a festival that is unlike any other. This festival indeed involves one of the specialties from the Skywings, not seen anywhere else : kites. Each family of Skywings takes pride in crafting the most beautiful kite they can, using expertly tainted leather, colorful feathers, long ribbons made from silk and a lot of other exotic materials. On the day of the Festival, all Skywings gather in the central island and deploy their kites. The sight is simply breathtaking. Big ornamented kites crafted by master fly side by side with smaller and simpler kites crafted by ambitious hatchlings. Visitors from all tribes come to see this wonderful show. In the evening, a feast is organized and dragons eat while the kites peacefully float in the skies.
The kites are not only used for the festivals. Some more sturdy kites are indeed used in a fairly different context. The Skywings are masters of flight, and hatchlings are usually interested in the sky way before they can actually fly. And so these curious little dragons are introduced with flying by an intriguing way : using the kites. The hatchling is securely tied to the kite with a robust harness, and the kite is sent to the sky under the attentive gaze of the parents. As such, it is not an unusual sight in the Skywings realm to see a young hatchling hung on a kite, with one of the parents flying around.
Of all the musical instruments the Skywings have created, the most intriguing one are the chimes. Each family of Skywings has its own, and each of them produce different sounds. The thing is, this chimes actually tell the story of a family. Early in their lives, hatchlings will craft their own part of the chime, choosing very carefully the tone it will give. It is then added to the family's chime for as long as the dragon is around. When two dragons become mates, they create they own new chime by combining the chimes from the two families. And when a family has to mourn the death of a loved one, they knot a piece of cloth around the piece of the chime, silencing the sound it makes. Should a dragon feel too sad about the loss of someone, they can temporarily remove the cloth and hear the sound of their chime.
So if you have any questions, feel free to ask. I will post the threads for each Tribe soon, along with the contest's length and rewards. But feel free to prepare and think of a few customs on your own before we begin!

Re: New contest : Tribe customs
And the contest is now officially started ! The threads for each Tribe have been created in the Contest section, so time to start !
Remember you are free to suggest customs for every Tribe, even if you are not part of it, and that you can submit as many customs as you'd like !
As for the rewards, there will be one special title, Loremaster, awarded to the best custom of each Tribe. The three best customs overall will also be awarded with a custom glow. There might be more rewards coming, so stay tuned !
The contest will last for the whole month.

They aren't customs at the moment, but I'll put some pressure on Sly to adopt them ^^

Re: New contest : Tribe customs
It happened, but not very many were interested, or people were too busy to participate... or both. So, it started but just kinda died.
