The Story Behind Your Character's Name(s)

Did you name your dragon after something? I did on a few!

Allistair: a character in a novel I wrote, plus a guy in DragonAge
Sting: I named her after my favorite character's in my fav movie's sword: Bilbo Baggins! Plus I figured out recently that Sting is also a WWE wrestler and is gonna fight Triple H at WrestleMania this year.

Well as a few people already know, "Tenebris" is actually latin for Darkness.

Solstice Equinox originated from two cat characters I created. They were anthromorphic. One of them was blonde and blue-eyed by the name of Solstice, and the other was red-eyed with red and black hair named Equinox. I had originally planned for Equinox to be Solstice's evil side, but then I decided they were going to be siblings. I learned the words in an elementary science class. And when I joined here, I thought I was going to make two characters. Solstice, and Equinox. But that didn't happen.

Melody's name was the first thing that came to me when I pictured a crystal dragoness. I'm pretty sure it's because she is gentle, and as are melodies.

Vera's name came from me translating words into other languages, and I ended up translating "beauty" from English to Russian. I got Vera, which I thought would fit a new character.

Aquamarine's name came from a conversation in chat when people were discussing their birthstones, and mine is Aquamarine. That made me think of a SeaWing character, and then I matched her to my birthstone's colour. Pale blue.

Ariki's name came from me typing more letters into Google translate, I think. I don't quite remember the story for his first, but his last name, Ren, I have the facts for. If you translate "Gay" from English into Russian, you get гей, which looks like a screwed up version of Ren. But I just now typed Ariki into google translate, and I translated it from English into Czech to Maori and back to English. It means "Lord."

Shiavee's name came from me randomly thinking of stuff.

Nizza's name is Bella translated from English into Italian and then that translated into Finnish.

Artemis' name was something I considered when I saw an argument about the greek gods and goddesses in chat.

Star Brilliance's name is relatively obvious. I wanted to make a star dragon, and of course, stars are brilliant, so that happened.

For me I think I just did something simple, I put my IRL name in an generator and got Arkhor XD

err can't remember, think I just used a generator finding out my dragon name from my real life name or something.

Wisp came from the fact that before I became the klutzyest person on planet Earth, I was like this super ninja child, and I had a friend who used to say I would float around like a "Wisp" of smoke.

Adra is the name Arkhor chose xD

Hikari actually means Light in Japanese. Get it, the LightWings name is Light xD

Zephyros was named by Atlas

Neru was named by Nebula

We ALL know where Natsu came from.

Asailia is the name of a land I created back when I was younger. I actually have a book written called "The Heirs of Asailia" I just like the word.

I think that's all of them.

ElextroPhoenix: Electro and Phoenix. Except Elextro. :I. She's half SkyWing and half FireWing.

The name of a character I made for a war rp on another site who was the king of the Dragon kingdom. Also just sounded like a good name for a 110 year old dragon.

The name Arcke is from the word Arc,which is one of his forms.... Eh also from the beginning and play off of Akreious which is a random name I made.... End! Beautiful story

Lucia: I had been studying the Latin language I think and her name meant illuminator.

Rylatha: the name of a character in my novel, but I didn't want anyone to think I was 'stealing' this site name, so I changed the name in the story
Cicero: OMG I love the history of Rome, and Cicero was a Roman Senator.
Equinox: Also the name of one of my characters.
Jericho: An old city in the Bible, and for those who don't know, the Bible is the Holy Word for Christains (yes, I'm a Christain and I say it loud and proud!).
MoonFlare: Just kinda came to me.
Sorkori: The username of one of my friends on Clash of Clans
Gala: Just felt it.
Saphira: the name of the dragon in Eragon

Delphin: I guess it's a pun on Dolphin... Ark made it.

Apollo: God of Fire

Jupiter: God of Gods (Rome)

Terra: Means Earth in Latin.

Scorpius: Sounded pretty mean. Star constellation.

Boreas: Greek God of the Northern Wind

Arctus: Beast Quest and sounded cool. xD

Devi: Randomly came up with it XD

Nebula: liked the name for a starwing

Dusk: From Astral (was her char first)

Blizzard: pretty clear why I chose that name XD

Lucy: From Fairy Tail

Monsoon: Liked the name as she likes rain

Volcanis: Atlas's char

Degzauth: Name generator XD

Zyailor: randomly came up with it


For those who didn't see:

Arkhor was from a dragon name generator which was done with my real name. Thats how I got it, since I did it many years ago it kinda stuck.

So anyway, to shorten that up it means something about flying, and hence; a Skywing shall be named Areo Dynamic (Or you could just call her Dynamic)

If I would have chosen I would have named her 'Arrow Dinamic' (Which I know I still can but... lets stick to the original.)

Acer: Latin word for 'sharp' and 'swift'
Nightning: I took night and lightning and merged them
Draaxoph: I just combined a whole lot of syllables until I came up with something that sounded cool
Prism Swivel: I took Prism and I took Swivel and I put them next to each other

I have lots of others, but none of them are dragons.

Umm.. I just made up all my names. I didn't base them off of anything.

Rii - made up nice and short because I didn't want her to sound fancy.

Rateevko - Also made up. His character itself is based off of the dormouse from pandora hearts. <-(Very good manga/anime by the way) http://pandorahearts.wikia.com/wiki/Dormouse

^^^ Because his character is based off of a small sleeping white mouse I kinda based his physical description as well as his abilities off of that as well. Hence why he is a tiny mostly white scaleless dragon with a long thin tail and pink eyes.

Yokubo was the only one pre-made for me by a former member cause he was originally a part of a demon plot revolving around the 7 deadly sins. Hence why he is still titled the lust bringer. Yokubo means Lust in uhhh... japanese? Or maybe korean....Or it might even be latin....IDK
