Dragon Sizes Empty Dragon Sizes

Post by Celestia Sat Aug 23, 2014 6:18 pm

The issues has come up on the sizes of dragons. Some crazy sized dragons are out there both terribly big and terribly small. So a min and max size for each tribe is being constructed. Your dragons must fall within these sizes but all other aspects of your dragon is up to you. Now phantoms sizes are as follows

SkyWings: 20-30'
SeaWings 30-40'
NightWings 40-50'
LightWings 50-60'
IceWings 60-70'
FireWings 70-80'
EarthWings 80-90'

My proposed sizes is the following.

SkyWings: 10-40'
SeaWings 15-60'
NightWings 20-80'
LightWings 25-100'
IceWings 30-120'
FireWings 35-140'
EarthWings 40-160'

The broader range allows for more choice in your dragon but without going into the extreme. In this way as well instead of never seeing a SkyWing as big as a SeaWing or the other way around you can occasionally see a SkyWing as large as a small LightWing. Tell us what size ranges you think would be best and tell us why.

The other matter at hand is will the current dragons that don't fit in these ranges be forced into the normal ranges or will they be given a pass and only new dragons must follow it. Personally I'm for leaving the current peeps be. Not only will it be a huge pain to have to go through every single dragon app and adjusted the sizes especially for those of you who have multiple characters but it also keep some abnormality and diversity to the our realm of pyyria.

P.S: Keep in mind that what how big you think the dragons are or should be isn't what someone else necessarily thinks. As well as your sizes might work for your dragon but throw someone elses out of range.

My opinion is to have size tribes as a simple referement. That means that users aren't forced to follow the parameters. I believe it's very important to leave freedom to the users.

The model looks to be fine, but 20 feet is already something big - A T-rex. Perhaps the maximum limit would be 100 feet.

So when I make Frostflare's offical chracter sheet will I have to follow these sizes? Can I have her be in the average firewing range because she used to be a Fire dragon.

mhhh I don't agree much with a rule for dragon size, well of course we need a reference but one have its own charachter and beside it's a firewing or seawing it will have a personal idea about the size, the colour and special abilities
a seawing can be tiny or the most giant creature in the sea for example
i believe it's up to the user to write a description of the dragon

Alright my size chart will become the standard. dragons made before this post will not be forced to conform but all new dragons after this post will. Sizes are now in the dragon tribes page.

wait, so if i've joined the group now i'm forced to resize my own charachter? why? to me a fire dragon or an eartdragon can be big or little no matter the tribe but the dragon itself, there can be uselfull anyway a general reference for the size so one can have an idea, but for all the dragons

I agree having a model of referement, but not forced sizes.

I believe is very important to leave freedom about character's creation, or at least be permissive.

Users would have their own interpretation of size.

I think that a lot of the people here are just scared of change, and doesn't know how to compromise that well. When someone puts an idea up is either yes or no, it's almost never cool but could we change this? Another thing that seems to happen often is that people seem to take things personally when there's absolutely no reason to or no intention to hurt the said person. So, toughen up peps!
Anyway, my opinion on the matter is that we should let peps be whatever size they want to, but have the size chart thing be their recommended size. Another thing I should bring up is: what about the rouges?

No you don't have to re-size your dragon. Only new dragons have to follow the sizes. As for the rouge I'd say they have a little more freedom but they should stay within the sizes of the tribe they most closely resemble. Also Erinyes like I tried to remind you all just because thats how you think it should be doesn't mean all the others share the same idea.

No i undertood that i don't have to resize my dragon (even if this doesn't make sense since every new person will be forced, and it's about the new members and new charachter that i'm talking about
Also
Err, sorry Astral it's not what i think, I perfectly know that i have my personal opinion, but it seems like you should take a look at yourself, no offence really, because you are imposing this system to everyone.
I don't see what is wrong if one create a personal characther how it should be
no matter the tribe for the size
but yes there should be a reference, but for all the dragons in general, no metter with you will be.
I'm saying this exactly because one should not be forced, but be free to select the right size for its personal dragon, so everyone can have a persobnal idea about this.

((just for example, if one have no idea how to let others know the size, there is "sort of guide"

I put this into action because there were a number of people who had an issue with the lack of boundaries when it came to size. I left it up to the community to debate upon what the limits should be. I gave the sizes I thought were the best and gave my reasoning. Instead of giving their own suggested sizes some of the peeps above just agreed with mine.

and where you discussed it? in the chat? it should be a open topic so really everyone can say a personal opinion
I'm saying this in the interest of every single member who, with a good guide as reference, can describe the size of the dragon, istead of be forced by the tribe. it doesn't make sense even in the story, since one dragon can come from far away and join one, how this should be related with the size?
this system will preclude every single free choice and I didn't know anything, and i would like to know as everyone
I posted a guide as example, and i think it's really usefull fot everyone

A couple of suggestions.

1. If we're going to have forced sizes, so all the users should have the same treatment. New users are less important than the current ones? I understand it would be a pain to change every dragon. But I believe we need to be fair and equal towards the userbase.

2. A poll would be a better idea and see if the majority of the community is ok about having "forced sizes".

Nobody on this topic until now voted against it. Everyone who commented about commented for it. Also either way your screwing one of the groups over weather it be the old peeps or the new peeps. More good comes out of this way and most the others who commented about it seem to agree.

Post by Erinyes Mon Aug 25, 2014 12:39 pm

err, nope, i commented against it, and i was not the only one. also i did not know about this official decision

1. one create a dragon, take care and respect its own charachters, so the size, colors, powers

2. it doesn't matter what tribe you will join, your dragon is unique

3. if the newcomer or old memeber that want to create a new dragon (or creature) are forced to change the size basing it on the tribe (which doesn't make sense) it should be applied to EVERYONE in respect to the others

4. it doesn't make sense because itì's not the tribe you go in that describes your powers, color, personality or size, but you, and one should be free to create a personal dragon and enjoy any kind of roleplay

also a seawing could be tiny or the most huge beast of the abyss

5. of course some rules, as references, are needed,  like the "general" behaviour of a tribe, or the power, but it doesn't mean that all the firewing are hothead (for example)

6. rulez should work as reference to help users as a good guid, not a law that force one to knee

one have the right to be free to respect its own charachter and describe it

a GENERAL guide to the size of the dragons is usefull to make more simple to the users to describe the dragon (and this must be applied for everyone, no matter who you join, or if you don't join a tribe at all)

Whit this, i'm not forcing someone, i'm looking for a better way to make everyone comfortable, in that way everything will be anyway under controll, if some want to size their dragon in a certain way i don't see what i'm saying wrong. because the other way, as I said, it's a way to force who don't want to apply this, and it's frustrating and damage the site and community of who don't like it, when it can be simply like I suggested and trieed to describe, try to understand please. My idea is more easy, right and correct for everyone, and still give a guide
