Festival of Earth (Event/EarthWings)

The Earth King decided his Tribe needed something o take their minds off of things and relax. So he decided to create an annual festival. This festival would celebrate their element and the infinite possibilities of it. There would be a feast, of course, various games and a contest. The contest would be the main event and consist of its participants making earthen works of art. Baldirak would judge the event himself along with one or two others. The King was currently helping to set up food and areas for the games.

Rhune arrived where the festival would be held, looking around him as he was observing all what had been made. The place was so different from usual! Rhune was mesmerized by how much a place could be transformed to much in a matter of a few days. There were stands everywhere, and he could already smell the food that would be served later. That would be an awesome event.
Lightheaded like he always was when observing his surroundings, Rhune forgot to check right in front of him and bumped right into another dragon. The surprise made him fall on his rump as he blinked, looking at the other dragon.
"Oh, Baldirak. How are you today?" the smaller dragon asked, as if he already forgot he bumped into him.

"...Good, now I want that over-- Rhine?" the Earth King looked down to see the smaller Dragon sitting down and looking up at him. Had he bumped into Baldirak or simply fallen down? He wasn't really sure and it done really matter. "I'm fine today, just trying to get setup for the festival. It will be your first one, are you excited? And how are you?" Awaiting an answer, Baldirak turned to place some items on a table. There were statuettes and toys for Hatchlings, some pieces of armor.

Rhune gave Baldirak a big sheepish smile as he asked if he was excited. Of course he was! His tail was wagging behind him as he stood up, looking up at the King.
"I can't wait to see what it's like! I'm fine, and you? Oh, do you need help with this?" the green dragon excitedly asked.
Rhune's speech had further progressed, and now the green dragon was mostly only bumping on some rough words. He was just needing a pause between each sentence to seek his words, effectively masking his remaining difficulties.
Visibly Baldirak was busy disposing things on the tables. Those were small statues, and things that looked odd to him. He had seen a few toys but identifying one was still sometimes a challenge for him. Curious, he looked at one of them, and it was quite obvious he needed all the concentration in the world not to just take it and play right now.

The King chuckled at Rhune's reaction,  "You'll have lots of fun, I'm sure of it. I'm quite well this morning and I indeed could use another paw. Why don't you set this pot on that table there?" he asked with a flick of his tail to the end of the table nearest Rhune. If he weren't so busy setting up for the day, Baldirak would have spent a little time talking to Rhune and complimenting his progress over the past few months. There was always time for it later. He noticed the smaller EarthWing staring at the toys on the table and he smiled. "I'm sure no one would mind if you took that and tested it out, Rhune. After all, they have to be safe for Hatchlings." Baldirak moved away then to tend to some other things.

Prasi runs out of the dining area and into the main chamber of the earthwing tribes numerous tunnels. Her little wings already large enough to help to increase the speed of her getaway. With much flapping, scrabbling of claws, and a few giggles Prasi runs through dragon legs, leaps over tables, and then rushes to find a hiding spot from her mother.

PRASSSII!!! Rii bellowed as she came from the dining hall, through the tunnel, and into the main chamber where servants, the king, and Rhune were all getting the preparations for the festival set up. Unlike Prasi who was so small and fast right now that she could get around the numerous bodies in the room; Rii had to dip, dodge, duck, and dive through the crowd after her daughter. The lanky female snake dragon had quite a bit of flour covering the large splashes of red tomato paste. This paste covered over the blue scales and fur of Rii's face, head, and neck.

Get back here you little turd... she growled under her breath as Rii spotted Prasi heading for the table covers near Baldirak and Rhune. She snorts in anger then starts to worry over whether Prasi would disturb anyone else working today. She'd already stolen tomatoes to throw at Rii from the cooks in the kitchens, and nearly been trampled by numerous other earthwings going about their business. Now it looked like the king was about to see Prasi's naughty side.

Rii edged towards Baldirak hiding behind his massive form so that she could surprise her daughter and grab her before the girl did anything. She then lifted her neck and head to whisper into the kings ear.

Just keep doing what you are doing and don't bring attention to me. I have to get Pras- Her words were caught off as Rii caught the mischievous glare of her child staring at Rhune from beneath the bundled up table covers. The concerned look on Rii's face turned to horror as Prasi threw one of two tomatoes she'd been carrying in her mouth at Rhune.

Rhune happily nodded at Baldirak and set the pot at the other side of the table, just as Baldirak had requested. Rhune maybe was the worst when it dealt with taking initiatives, one couldn't deny he was diligent when asked something. But overall, Rhune trying to help was almost requiring more effort than actually doing it yourself, as one would have to give him orders for every detail that needs to be done. Like, for example, how he was waiting for another task after having set the pot at the end of the table.
At that moment, he heard Rii storming inside the hall, startling him. He had a chuckle as he saw the healer's head being covered in floor and tomatoes. This really was a comical sight... He blinked as he barely spotted Prasi bolting under some dragon's feet, blinking. She definitely was a fast one... Rhune often had a hard time catching up with her when he needed to. Or simply keeping watch of her, for that matter. Right now he had lost sight of the hatchling.
"Hey Rii! Prasi is..." he began to greet the healer.
But before he could finish his sentence, his face got hit by the tomato Prasi threw. It hit him right in the face, the vegetable exploding on his muzzle. Some of it directly went straight in his mouth, confirming him it indeed was a tomato. And a good one at that. After a second blinking of surprise, Rhune almost casually extended his tongue to catch the rest of the tomato and eat it. The juices still were coating his muzzle, but hey that would have been a waste to throw that tomato away! The green dragon lowered his head as he identified where the hit came from, looking at Prasi.
"Prasi! You don't throw food away! Food is for eating, not playing!" he told the hatchling.
It was obvious that for some reason, Rhune was more minding the food waste rather than the fact he just got hit in the face. Priorities.

Once again, the troublesome duo was at it again, terrorizing Rii and all she was around. This time, it was Prasi who had taken the brunt of it, after having raided the food area and stealing tomatoes. Au giggled at Rii's face when she was hit with a tomato, but had to keep at a full sprint from there on out to keep up with Prasi and Rii, as Rii chased after her. Once Rii bellowed out the little dragoness's name, Au giggled again, knowing Rii was playing chase now! This chase though was difficult, requiring a lot of effort to keep up. Little AuSurath was panting by the time he made it to the festival area, and stopped, watching Prasi dart under a table with Rii coming up behind. He watched Rii whisper to Mr. Baddy Whack, and watched Prasi start to go after Rhune. Au was too tired though at the moment, and thirsty. Noticing the nice cool water refreshments on a table, he began his epic adventure to the top of the table, travelling swiftly through the valley of stomps, conquering the table of terror, and finally vanquishing the dreaded bowl of juice by pushing it off of Mount TableTop. Celebrating his victory, he climbed into the crystal bowl of water, splashing about as he enjoyed the cool water after his chase and adventure.

Tamira, was to say, stunned, by the commotion. It was a rare sight to see such boisterous little dragons running around, at least, for her, it was a rare sight. The mud brown dragon looked around cautiously, taking careful steps as to not step on anyone's tails. Just as she was about to stand around and observe the festival's preparations, she heard a loud crash as a bowl of juice fell from a table, accompanied by a rather happy looking hatchling relaxing in a bowl of water.

Tam sighed as she walked over to the now empty and cracked bowl and picked it up and placed on the table. She wasn't sure if it could hold anymore liquids now, but at least it didn't shatter completely. The puddle of juice on the ground however...she wasn't sure what to do and looked around for any assistance.

Baldirak was placing the final and rather delicate object on the prize table. It was made of volcanic glass and crafted by the king himself for this festival. As he was setting it down, he heard a commotion behind him. He heard Rii calling for one of her children, Prasi. And then there was a crashing and splashing as a bowl of water fell to the floor. What was going on here? Baldirak's pale blue eyes first went to the bowl, since it was right next to him. Inside was the NightWing Hatchling, AuSurath. The King's thin, whip-like tail end shot forward to capture the Hatchling. At the same time he turned to look at Rhune, who was shouting about food being thrown. The smaller EarthWing had tomato on his snout. In a rather calm manner, Baldirak spoke, "EarthWings... there is much commotion here. Far too much for you to be aiding in the preparations. Tell me, Hatchlings, why you choose this Chamber to cause... mischief? There places much more fun than this; this is a very boring Chamber with naught but hours of work for grown-ups. And Rii.. perhaps you require an extra paw to help look after your children? Might I suggest Rock or Rhune? Lespernii is absent at the moment. Now, Young Ones, food is not to be thrown carelessly in the name of fun. It is a much too delicious, to be enjoyed by taste alone. And bowls are not for swimming--though for one of your size, it is understandable how you might come to think this. But how is this: I have a special task for you. Something only a Hatchling can do. I've hidden a special item in the Healing Chamber; you'll know it when you see. It will look... out of place. Different. I want you to find this special object and bring it back to me. Do you think you can do that?"

Au and Prasi weren't the only ones giving their parent grief. Pelia was hiding from her father, Rock. The little Hatchling was in search of Rhune, whom she hadn't seen for quite some time now. For some reason, the Dragon hadn't been playing with Pelia much. While Rock was busy with his morning patrol and her mother was sleeping in, Pelia wandered through the massive tunnels, looking for Rhune. It seemed to take forever before she finally found his scent and she followed it. It led her to a lot of places she's never been before--she rarely left the nursery, giving how tiny she was. But Rhune was not in any of the places she came to. If not for her eagerness, she might have explored more. Maybe later. Finally, she came to the Main Chamber, there were many Dragons walking around. Tiny Pelia looked around and saw Rhune, but he was far away and she was very tired after her long walk. Sitting down, she made a sort of chirping noise, trying to get someone's attention.

Xia, having helped offer this idea to Baldirak, the idea of throwing such a festival, to take the EarthWing's minds off of the brutality and hardships they had faced before, of course, was going to be there. She entered the area where her adopted brother was located, her posture containing much regal glory and magnificence as when she had first appeared out of the forest brush. She had recently taken a dip in the pools earlier, so her body was glistening and clean.

She approached the group of dragons with a kind smile, greeting them as she saw fit, chuckling a bit at the chaos the hatchlings were causing. "Good evening, my fellow dragons, brother. It is nice to see you are all beaming with excitement!"

Rhune started to panic as he heard a loud crash, seeing AuSurath bathing in a bowl of water on the table. That was too much for him to deal with! At least when they were in Rii's den they were being on one mischief together...
He was about to get Au out of the bowl when Baldirak started to talk to him. Well that meant he could focus on Prasi. Getting his head back under the table, he tried to gently seize her in order to get her out of under the table. Even if she tried to dodge, the only way out was on the other side of the table, where Rii already was.
But a chirp suddenly got his attention. He knew that chirping. If he had managed to grab Prasi, he would set her on his back, as he was higher than Rii hatchlings often enjoyed the view up there. He headed toward the entrance of the hall, lowering his head toward Pelia.
"Pelia! What are you doing here alone? Here, come." he said as he gently pulled her and put her on his back as well.

Baldirak was waiting for answer when he felt the tremors identifiable only as his adopted sibling, Xia. She was close by and heading this way. And then Rhune ran off to see the Hatchling, Pelia. Baldirak glanced over to see if he had captured Au; he only saw Tamira standing over the puddle of water on the ground. He smiled lightly, "Don't fret over it. It is merely water, the ground will absorb it. I make a point of knowing the names of everyone, but I do not believe I know yours... Ah, Xia!" the King turned to see his sister walking over. "Of course we are excited. It is not off we have a festival. I'm sure everyone will enjoy what you have helped put together."

Pelia squeaked as Rhune picked her up and placed her on his back. "Roone!" The small Hatchling spread her legs and wings to hug the bigger Dragon. She giggled and hopped up and down "Pway!"

Tamira looked over at Baldirak who had told her not to worry about the mess that was made. With a shrug, she brushed the incident off. She was about to help herself to something else when the EarthWing king asked for her name. "It is Tamira, your majesty...or do you mind if I go by something less formal?" she asked, unsure of how she should address the larger male. She looked over at the many dragons, recognising a couple of them here and there. The only ones she did not know the names to, however, were the hatchlings.

The female smiled a little when she saw the hassling about with the hatchlings all having a good time. In a way, it also made her feel as if she was already part of the whole thing. She then decided she would help with the preparations as well. "By the way, if you don't mind me asking, is there anything I could do to help with preparations?" she asked Baldirak.

Baldirak smiled at the female. "Tamira. And what is your rank? Majesty will suffice b ut you may use my name. If you wish to help, we need a table for contestants to put their artwork. And then we need another water bowl since this one was... used as a bath." he said with a glance to the NightWing Hatchling. Vilkas was busy helping to create a mini obstacle course for young Hatchlings. He made lots of fun-looking things for them to climb on and tunnels to run through. The area was also littered with toys and bite sized food for them as well.

Rhune had a smile as Pelia bounced on him, requesting to play. Ah hatchlings, so careless about everything... But well if she wanted to play, so be it! Rhune needed to find something to play with though. And for that, he had the whole table of toys that had already been set. Rhune lowered himself once he got there to let Pelia - and Prasi, if she was still there - climb down, while inspecting the different toys that were there. There were some of them that were obvious enough - a plain ball, a stick with some feathers attached at the end - but a lot of others he had no idea how they worked. Hmm maybe begin with something simple for now. He distracted the hatchling by swaying his tail back and forth, luring her to hunt it, before grabbing the ball and making it roll toward Pelia. A ball and a hatchling : always a winning combination.

Prasi paused as Bawdi started lecturing to Au and herself. She blinked a few times staring up at him while listening for a short while. The farthest her attention span would let Prasi concentrate on Baldirak was up to his mentioning of how food was to be eaten not wasted. To this she replied. Who says you can't still eat it after it been thrown?? Prasi prompted asking the king before slipping between her mothers legs and quick claws. Rii's claws had nicked Prasi's wing as she ran about, but the little cut barely bled and did not bother the hatchling as she crawled up the drapes. Then she began jumping over things to reach Tamira. The child gazed at the earthwing curiously since this was someone she had not met before.

She then shot a mischievous glare to Rii sticking her long tongue out and wiggling her hind end into the air. Momma can't catch me! Prasi giggled while leaping towards and then perching on Xia's shoulder. She made sure that if and when the tall lady moved she could scrabble away from the women's paws the instant they came for her.

Rii held back a growl as Prasi tossed a tomato at Rhune. It hit with a splat and left the male with a messy face. He began to lick it up, which would have been amusing had she not already been angry right now. Then Rii became aware of Au also running around. She hissed as he made himself comfortable in a water dish causing her to sigh. Whereas AuSurath could have mistaken the bowl as a bath or little pool Prasi knew already that playing with food was wrong. Rii had already had that discussion with her brood when they had begun eating on their own without her help tearing the stuff into smaller pieces. So while she couldn't yell at Au for being bad Rii definitely had to do something about Prasi. Luckily her king began lecturing the child, but Rii figured Prasi wouldn't listen for too long. She kept an eye on the child under the table as Baldi began speaking.

It was the arrival of Xia and Tamira that made Rii's fur stand on end. No no.. don't come in now. They'll think I can't raise my kids right with how these two are acting! Rii fretted silently within her mind as she took her eyes off of Prasi for a moment to greet Xia and Tamira.

It is good to see you two again. I'm sorry if my children are being annoying or problematic right this moment. I'm trying to round them up and get them ba- Rii's words were cut off as she caught a glimpse of Prasi trying to run underneath her. Rii tried to grab the child, but missed just barely. She then backed up a bit growling a little as her eyes followed Prasi's movements towards the other two dragons.

Rii sighed as the child hopped about near the other dragons and even tried to get onto them. Shaking her head, Rii caught a glimpse of Rhune with another hatchling nearby, and of Vilkas helping out at one of the other tables. She wanted to help prepare for the event too, but right now the best help she could give was to get the little troublemakers away from this area. Perhaps Eysseth is not busy? Rii wondered before looking back to Baldi and the others.

I apologize deeply for this mess. Her brows were screwed up in concern. ...and yes Baldirak I do need some help with them. Perhaps Rhune and his little friend might help me round up these two... Rii pointed to Au and Prasi ...and get them back to the den where we can all play a fun game? Rii had begun addressing Baldi but at the mention of Rhune she had made her voice louder hoping the other smaller male would hear her. It was either Rhune helped her or Rii grabbed one of the other dragons around to help her for a moment.

Rhune raised his head as he heard Rii mentioning his name. Managing three hatchlings at a time when they were all so agitated was too much for him. He didn't even have the time to deal with Prasi before Pelia arrived. He felt bad for not managing to do his job, especially with the tone Rii just took. His look went down for a second before he let a smile for Pelia.
"Just stay here for a minute, Pelia. You can play with that ball, and then we'll all go and play something." he told her, standing up.
The green dragon stood up and headed toward Xia, watching Prasi.
"Prasi, you heard your mother. Come back here, we'll go and play something in the cave." he smiled at her.
But he wasn't watching his back, and more particularly his tail. He hadn't moved a lot, and his tail was still near Pelia. A nice, moving tail like that was an occasion good enough not to let it pass...

Little Pelia clung to Rhune as he walked over to a table with toys on it. She giggled as she slid down his back and onto the floor, where he produced a toy for her to play with. For a few minutes, Pelia chased after the round toy as it rolled away from her whenever she nudged it. And then she noticed Rhune's tail; it was swaying back and forth. Smiling, the little Hatchling pounced upon the tail like a cat on its prey. She bit down on Rhune's tail, growling playfully.

Baldirak smiled lightly at Prasi. "This is true, Young One. But some would rather not have to eat that food end up on their faces." The King watched as the boisterous EarhWing ran off toward Xia and Tamira, much to the dismay of Rii. He gave a sympathetic smile to Rii as she apologized for her Hatchlings' behavior. "It's quite alright, Rii. Hatchlings have a knack for making messes. But it's all in good fun." Baldirak turned his attention back to the preparations. Soon, others arrived, some to mingle and some to help with a few last minute things. Those with Hatchlings went over to the play area that had been set up; Vilkas started a game of hide and seek.

When Baldirak asked Tamira what her rank is, she replied, "I am a tracker," then she was told what she could do to help and she nodded firmly, glad to be of help to the event. She was about to head off to get another bowl of water when she noticed a little EarthWing hatchling stare at her curiously before jumping onto Xia's shoulder.

Tamira tilted her head in interest at the excitable hatchling, but shrugged it off. Shortly after that, Rii came up to the two of them with an apology, which Tamira shook off. "Oh, no. Don't worry about it, Rii," she replied with an understanding smile. It seemed that Rii was having a hard time taking care of so many hyper hatchlings in one go. The dragoness would have loved to offer her help, but she herself had things to do as well.

With that, she made her temporary leave noticed and went off to find another clean bowl of water. Also, she needed to find a table to set up for the artwork displays.

Even as Baldirack held onto him, Au just watched as more and more big dragons entered the area. He blinked and watched everyone and waited, bidding his time till the EarthWing king did not seem to be paying him any attention. When this happened, AuSurath slipped free from Baldirack's grasp, using his scaleless hide to be slippery enough to break free from his grasp and then bolted underneath him. From there, depending on if Baldirack was trying to get him or not, he would hide under the EarthWing king. Noticing Rii and now the silly Prasi, AuSurath got a devious mind of his own, sneaking out from under Baldi toward's Rii's tail, but then bolted under the table when Rii turned to talk to Baldirack. Waiting under the table till Rii went for Prasi, that would be the time when he struck, coming out and nipping Rii's tail tip before running away in the opposite direction.
