And so, another battle awaited him...

A new location this time. That was good. But in a sense, not much so. His body still ached but could easily be shrugged off. He was fit to fight another round. But against who was what he was rather concerned of. He spent his break recuperating and rethinking about his capabilities. His loss to king Baldi of the Earthwings was quite a discouragement for him, but perhaps he found the limits of his powers. The environment back then did not favour Sly as much as he hoped. Despite his night time advantage, Baldi was able to detect him still through the use of other senses. He was also surrounded in earth. It was rather easy for him to pick up the victory. The oasis was not so much an equal fighting ground as far as he was concerned.

Now that he was enlisted as an assassin in training, he hoped to gain the skills to mask himself more than just being unseen. And what perfect practise target could there be than the semigod of the Lightwings?

A classical light versus dark. Where Sly was the villain and Seyn the hero. Another semigod. The one who also lost to Baldi. Again, Shadows Refuge hardly held any records on what this dragon could do. Perhaps something involving the light. Well he would better use it well.

The crystal isle was sparse in any solid grounds. There were a few trees here and there, the dark silhouettes before the gold, red and pink twilight of sunset. The trees danced in the gale, swaying rather heavily while muffling the gentle splashes of water with its rustling cries. The battleground here had yet to feel the weight of claws or the beating of wings. As if this was the fight it would soon witness. The wind carried with it the smell of seasalt. If this were not a fight, Sly could stay and rest here.

Some notable herbs grow under the shade of the tree that Sly took a huge interest in. He knew they only throw within the territories of the Seawings, carrying rather useful healing properties. Perhaps a harvest after the battle before any Seawing notices.

Sly arrived early in the rather chilly landscape, as always. He found a lone island that was the furthest and hid behind a few trees there, crouching and waiting for his opponent. There was absolutely no cover in this environment, and knowing that Seyn was a semigod of light, he would find it difficult to remain unseen. Some islands jutted out like mounds or standing on a pillar of rocks, which he ciuld hide behind.

Sly scanned his surroundings, keeping his eyes on the distance. He could see almost 1kilometre around him. If Seyn were to appear from any direction, Sly would shift himself accordingly so he remained hidden. By the tine the senigod arrives, the sun would finally set...

Seyn glided over the last hot air currents, the sun setting behind him. He was arriving at the place his next battle would happen. The Crystal Islands... That was a place he was seeing for the first time. Well at least this tournament would be a great occasion to get to see such places.
The battlefield was rather special. There was hardly any ground for him to land on. Was it an advantage or a disadvantage? That was hard to say. It probably was a mixture of both for him. There was barely any place to hide, apart from some pillars - and of course the water. The time of the day wasn't playing in his favor, though. His opponent was a Nightwing after all. He would be hard to spot at night, but it wasn't like Seyn had some tricks up his sleeves to deal with this problem.

The Golden dragon landed on one of the islands, clearly visible. However he was a bit tensed. After his fights with Storm and Guryon, he had to realize not every opponent was as honorable as himself was. He wasn't looking like he was preparing anything, just looking at his surroundings. Should Sly show himself, Seyn would simply greet him. This was, after all, an honorable Tournament, not some dirty conflict.

His opponent arrived soon enough, right from the direction of the sun. The sight of the dragon made him a bit nervous. This was going to be his second fight against a demigod. Not only that, but the two were on opposing elements. Sly initially thought he did not have the strength to take on the chosen one of the tribe. They were powerful for a reason. But not all of them were that capable. His victory against Guryon was due to him remaining unseen and locking him down before he could properly retaliate. He could do the same against Seyn. Though unlike before, Sly was now among the ranks of assassin. He could not care less about doing the right thing and introduce himself to the semigod. The last time he did that to the Earthwing king, he lost.

At least this Lightwing would not be summoning earth or shooting water anywhere. Sly watched carefully as Seyn soared overhead and landed with his back to Sly, about 10metres from him. If his assassin instincts were to kick in, Sly would think Seyn was begging for a backstab. He huffed a fine breath of sensitising mist towards Seyn's back, enpugh to envelope the dragon. The faint and translucent colour of it should be enough to camouflage it with the darkness of night, if one were not to have heightened senses for sight. Just before the mist touched the dragon, Sly charged his wings and hold, being sure to cover up the glow as much as possible. After a brief delay, he extended his wings out and shot two large glowing orbs. They would both go in opposite directions, towards Seyn and collide on him from both flanks. No doubt Seyn would notice the glow, but by the time he noticed, Sly would close wings back to his side and shoot out a total of twelve small orbs, aiming them over the island he was hiding and passing by the trees. These orbs were fast enough yo leave a trail in their path and would meet the semigod before the larger orbs would. The small orbs were aimed at the backside that was shown to Sly and were used so that they would distract Seyn by exploding on him. They were not as strong as the larger orbs, but with sensitised scales, they would burn. The orbs would also blind Seyn in their explosion, allowing the larger orbs to advance and strike. If Seyn decided to try and tank the orbs, the larger ones would generate quite the shockwave inside him and he would need strong and sturdy bones and organs to do so safely.

Sly wasted no time after firing the volley of small orbs. He needed to reposition. Quickly he slid into the water, trying not to make a sound. It was quite hard with his poinding heart, but he perhaps managed. Sly distanced himself from the island by five metres, making sure the island was still shielding him, before making a wide circle towards another island while the semigod was distracted.

After the orbs presumingly met their targets, Sly would then dive into the water and make his way to another small patch of land, nine metres directly west of Seyn. Abd there he would hide behind and wait...

((Well, since I have to post and couldn't talk with Sly today, I'll have to call for a judge.
The point that concerns me is the distance Sly says Seyn landed from him. I guess it's merely a mistake while estimating distances, but... Ten meters roughly equals to 25 feet, which is barely a third of Sly's size. Sly also mentioned Seyn was having his back toward him, which means he went over Sly while landing. If Seyn really was to land 25 feet away from Sly in those conditions, he would have literally tripped on him by accident... Considering Sly was hiding behind a few trees that were surely higher than that (since, well, I'm not sure matchsticks are really effective to hide behind), that means Seyn would have landed at least 200 feet from the trees (and at that distance he'd still be almost landing on Sly, at a point it would be pretty difficult for him to hide even by changing sides of the trees.

Sorry for that, but I do need to know the real distance Sly is from Seyn when making that attack ><))

((Combat Judge Cele here. Because Hryuu gave no indication of where he landed in relation to Sly and Sly filled in the details then where Sly says Hyruu landed remains true. However in order for Hyruu to do the approaching and end up with back turned his form would have had to have passed through her cone of vision. Landing such a short distance away and passing as Sly stated overhead that is pretty darn freaking close and would be pretty hard to miss. It's hard to say you are hidden behind an island mound with the distance being so short. Speaking of islands the way movement is described on them and how far apart they are described to be these islands must be freaking tiny and really closely packed. This is exaggerated but with how big you peeps are compared to these islands this is the kind of picture that comes to mind http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Jy70F-kUxhY/VKHar8PyMCI/AAAAAAAAAfo/YQEuOFzJj2U/s1600/Boulder%2Bhopping%2Bon%2BKalalau.JPG
With those two people being dragons and all those rocks sticking out of the water the islands. Again exaggerated but still. I can't see how Sly couldn't be spotted with how things have played out so far. With the realization that Sly is there I would say Hyruu would be given the opportunity to chose a different approach from landing 10 meters with his back faced to Sly. Cele out))

SEYN V SLY (Crystal Islands) Empty Re: SEYN V SLY (Crystal Islands)

Post by Hyruu Tue May 24, 2016 12:33 am

((Well to avoid changing too much on Sly's post, Seyn will have landed on the next island with his back to Sly. That would make a distance of about 400-500 feet, enough for Sly to easily have remained hidden from Seyn.))

Seyn was starting to feel nervous about all this. With the night arriving, he wasn't able to see much, darkness enveloping most of the islands. This setup would make an ambush attack rather easy... And his opponent was yet to be seen. Would that Nightwing be honorable enough to introduce himself?
As Seyn looked at his sides to check if his opponent was there, he spotted a faint light at the corner of his vision. He didn't have the time to see what it was before the smaller orbs hit his back. Out of instinct the Golden dragon leapt away, turning around to see two wider orbs heading his direction. The Golden dragon leapt away, using his wings to glide on another island that wasn't far from where he was. Some trees were conveniently covering this small island, providing a bit of cover should another series of orbs be fired toward him. Now he was out of the two orbs' trajectory, but he remained careful about them. He had already seen examples of homing orbs in his previous fight, it wouldn't be surprising these orbs were aimed at him as well.
As the small rush of adrenaline stopped, Seyn gritted his teeth. His back was burning. Whatever those orbs were, they hurt pretty badly when they landed. He had to be cautious about this. But first securing the zone. Suddenly, a dozen of suns appeared in a wide radius around Seyn - smaller than Sly's orbs, and completely static. But the light they were providing would be enough for Seyn to see his opponent should he arrive in a radius of several hundred feet.

The attack went smoothly at least, but the large orbs missed their window and were now side by side chasing after the semigod. He would think that he could escape its range, but the orbs would chase until they were to strike something in between. However, it was expectes that a semigod like Seyn would have the power to conjure something like a shield, or at least do what Baldi did and force a slab of rock from the ground up. But he did none of that. Tanking them was eliminated, now that the sensitising mist had sneaked and completely enveloped the semigod in its mist. It was remarkable that Seyn hoped to use the trees on another island to shield himself.

If only Sly was not hiding in that island to begin with...

The moment Seyn set his claws onto this island, near the trees such that they covered his back, Sly was very close by, around 60ft, but still hidden in the waters. As Seyn moved to reposition, he was directly facing Sly's direction. With how dark it is, it was easy to mistake his snout for another rock. His wings were held close, preparing another pair of large orbs to join with those slowly heading for Seyn, but doomed to hit those trees. As the semigod's claw touched, Sly burst out of the water, jumping forward, both claws cupped, and hurled the seawater at Seyn's snout, hoping to blind or even mask his senses. With how Sly was leaping forward, he was also in range to make a surprise claw to both sides of Seyn's snout, an attenpt to further blind him or at least shock him a bit. In the same time, Sly forced his wings open, shooting a second pair of large orbs, in the same instance that Seyn tried to make whatever move he wanted to do. These orbs were aimed to traverse small arcs from Sly to hit both of Seyn's flanks. Should Sly failed to hit Seyn or blind him in any way, he predicted the semigod would have to shift from his spot, allowing the first pair of large orbs to aim at Seyn's back unhindered.

If Seyn tried to duck from the blind attempt, as if he knew the Nightwing to be hidden there the moment Seyn landed on this island, Sly would stumble a bit but his large orbs would still go off. He would then try and uppercut Seyn's neck, an attempt to throw him away from those trees again, before jumping back into the water.

Ultimately, after this next surprise attack, regardless if it succeeded or not, Sly would hurry back and jump into the sea, diving deep and swimming off to the next island...

SEYN V SLY (Crystal Islands) Empty Re: SEYN V SLY (Crystal Islands)

Post by Hyruu Thu May 26, 2016 12:32 am

Seyn only saw Sly at the very last moment, as he leapt out of the water. He tried to form a sun to block the Nightwing's trajectory, but there was a moment of delay that made the orb appear behind Sly. Without flinching, instead of trying to avoid the water Sly was splashing at him, the Golden dragon continued with the momentum he had from the landing and charged Sly, hopefully head butting him. As he tried to aim for his chest, this meant Seyn lowered his head right as Sly would try to slash it, hopefully making him miss the hit. Seyn had the advantage of the weight, and since Sly was charging toward him, he would have a hard time avoiding Seyn charging back. Seyn would try to push Sly the farthest he could with the initial push, hoping to push him on the sun he had made behind.
In any case, Seyn would be able to rush past the arc the two orbs were making. The golden dragon disabled the sun he had put behind Sly as himself rushed past that point and took off, the orbs still following him. By the time all this happened, and since Seyn headed toward the opposite direction from the trees, the first orbs would meet their end in a few seconds, leaving only those two last ones.
While he was flying, Seyn set bigger suns over each of the islands of the area, which were bright enough to light its surroundings. That left only a few dark zones in the sea between some of the most isolated islands, but Seyn was getting that covered by adding a few smaller suns to just light those locations. It didn't take him more than a dozen of seconds to prepare all the suns, and he had begun by the direction Sly had left toward - branching to the closest islands as well in case he had changed direction. If Seyn spotted the Nightwing, he would distract him by creating a sun right in front of him, blinding him enough not to see Seyn for some seconds. Those seconds would be the time he needed to breath his light breath on him.
