Food is on the table. [Nightwings - private w/ Oculus/Oreo]

The scent of rotten, dead trees surrounds the swamps, the wind being cold and harsh as always in the spring season. The skies have gathered on the sky, dark and grey, and the sun slowly disaperes behind the dark clouds.

The sound like wings in the air would be heard from miles afar as Cailira flies over the swamped area, her gaze moved downwards, searching for an easy pray to eat, she had been flying for some hours now and the flapping of her wings seems to have slowed down. She'd reach the end of the swamped area and into the corrupted forrest, here she'd move herself to fly lower to be fast enough, if she'd find anything.

She shouldn't search for long before a big elk would be visible for her. Her eyes narrows as she'd move herself future down, folding her wings together to get herself into more speed, in her attack. Only to let herself colide into the elk. Gribbing it with her front paws and her mouth over it's back and neck, pressing it down onto the ground. Ofcourse the elk would try to defend itself by swinging his antler around aswell as his head to try hit her. However it'd be too late for him.

The cracking sound would be heard as the spine and neck would beak by the pressure of the dragoness. Cailira would as she won the pray relax abit more in her stance, starting to pull some flesh free from it to swallow it as whole.

He just had to take a break from the politics of the capitol and get a breath of air.  Oculus also brought his royal guard, Oreo, with him this time so he wouldn't be yelled at or lectured of the dangers of being an emperor and traveling without his guards, and yada yada.  The gentle breeze of the NightWing lands was welcoming, and the freedom of walking without being hounded by politicians was great.  Walking wherever his feet took him and having no real destination, he spoke to his loyal guard, "So Oreo, found a mate yet?  Life good?" he asked casually, hoping to avoid a lecture for the last time he went 'awol' and left Oreo behind.  It was at that time he heard a snap of bone breaking not too far off from where he was. However, he would 'test' his royal guard, and see if he saw it and what his reaction would be.  Would he hear it and ignore it, hear it and keep alert for the noise but not call for action, would he demand they leave or he attack the noise, or would he not have heard it at all?  Time would tell, and Oculus would just keep walking, purposefully wandering a little closer to the noise of where the bone snapping sound originated, making sure to step on branches so they snapped as he got closer, just to test his RG more.

The black and white dragon was glad that the emperor didn't go off by himself this time. After all, it was his duty to guard him and by him sneaking out who knows what could happen. He could be killed or captured for all Oreo knew. Oreo glanced at Oculus as he asked him a causal question, one that made him tilt his head and wonder if he was up to something. Nonetheless he answered, as not to displease his superior.

"Well Oculus, I haven't found a mate yet, and life would be better i-" The male turned his attention away from Oculus, a sound that could either be taking as a threat or a friend reaching his ears. Sniffing the air he smelled nothing out of the ordinary, dead trees and swamp. Although, another scent of what seemed to be a NightWing did reach him. Maybe it was just a tracker out hunting. There wasn't any real screaming, unless they killed them too fast for a peep to come out.

Oreo kept his guard up, not taking any immediate action. He didn't want to call a false alarm, and if the thing was a threat he was sure he'd be able to handle it. "If you wouldn't go off all the time..." He concluded with a slight hush to his voice. It wasn't as much to keep hidden, but to still be able to listen for any other noises of alarm.

Caili wouldn't even have noticed the two other dragons, as she would be busy eating. Ripping flesh of the elk, moving her head back up to throw the piece of meat future down her mouth to her throat.

The much smaller dragoness would be in her own world, eating what would seem to be her first meal in a long time. She'd once more lean down to place her teeths around the freshly dead elk's back, pressing them into it's flesh and bones before ripping the piece free from it's body, with a cracking sound from the bones.

Once more she'd move her head up to throw the meat future down the throat, as she'd suddenly stop herself eating, she heard something. Very slowly she'd turn her gaze around to try see what it was, before she'd raise her head to sniff into the air, that smell, it was dragons, nightwings as far as she could tell.

Quickly she'd get her head down to the elk once more to take a grib in it, only to try pull it away to 'safety' it was -hers- no one should steal it from her.

The sound of bones breaking was still clear, and it seemed his royal guard had caught sound of it too. Too bad he wasn't going to really assist him, in fact make it harder for him to do his job. "Well, you know, I just get the urge to go, and sometimes you are just too fat to keep up," Oculus teased quite obviously as he began to 'accidentally' wander closer to the area that the noise was coming from, still maintaining a completely innocent posture as if he was just strolling along. He knew very well he was 'wandering' towards the noise of what could possibly be a threat, but that made it all the more exciting to get Oreo tested, and mainly to make him not focus on lecturing him again about leaving unguarded.

Caili would after having her meal pulled away, lay down onto the ground. Her right paw placed onto the still fresh elk's back. Her head lowering slowly to take another grib in the meat, pulling it from the elk. Craining her head upward to throw the meat backwards in her mouth to swallow it.

Her tail slowly curling up to lay beside her, tapping onto the ground as if she'd count low to herself. Listening to the sounds around her, no birds singing, could only be a sign of something big has approached the area.

Once more she'd lean down to rip some flesh away from the elk, doing the same movements as before, craining her head to throw the meat backwards in her mouth.

A shiver runs down her body, making the sail on her neck shake, the spikes moving slightly up before laying down along again, with the edges pointing downwards.
The smell of the blood would possible be flowting through the area.

Oreo lightly glared at Oculus, a slight growl escaping his maw. He would've said something back to him if the scent of blood didn't hit his nose. He stopped, hopefully getting Oculus to notice something was off. Of course, just in case, he stepped in front of Oculus, keeping an eye on him still.

"Who's there?" He ordered, his fins standing up. His growl was loud enough to hear up close, but not too far away. He didn't like this potential threat to the king who was ever so casually walking through the forest. Oreo glanced back at him before taking another step closer to the sound, prepared for anything.

Oculus watched Oreo finally do something about whatever that noise was. Blood was in the air, and that could mean something was up. This at least was more interesting than those meetings, and now he got to watch how his royal guard would act alone in the forest, with potential enemies coming to attack them. Oculus did stop moving when Oreo cut in front of him, demanding whoever was out their to show themselves and such. He also noted how even as Oreo approached the sound, he still looked back at him to make sure he was there and not attacked or dying from a stealth attack. Smart. He couldn't help but grin at Oreo, who may or may not have seen it, as he felt pride for his guard in taking such precautions. He definitely was in good and safe hands.

The cracking from bones would be heard as she'd pull another flesh free from the elk, only to throw it into her mouth, aswell as the bones that followed the meat. She'd quickly turn her head around, listening to the voice. Trying to figure out where the voice comes from.

However it wouldn't take long before she'd turn her gaze back to her food. 'I should investigate?.. no.. what if someone takes my food? what if-.. shut up' she'd shake her head by those thoughts before finally raising to her feet, being so small for other drakes, she'd most likely look like a whelp.

Once more looking down at her food before starting to walk towards the sound of the two dragons, her head keeps moving to look over her shoulder at the elk, untill she'd be out of reach to see it. Looking forth once more untill she'd be able to see the two larger dragons, quickly lowering herself behind some bushes to look at them.

Whatching them for a few seconds before slowly trying to move back and away from them. Stepping on some old dry brenches, which might crack under the weight of her body.

Oreo listened intently for whatever was out there, hearing a few light footsteps. The scent said blood and dragon, but he still couldn't be sure until he saw it. He still kept his focus elsewhere around Oculus, but his main point was on what should be coming out in front of him.

It could just be a harmless predator that they happened to stumble upon, but the male doubted that. He would've heard it running away already. He heard more cracking, his head swiveling to the sound. Now instead of smelling or listening, he'd try to see it. The sound sounded close, and loud, and there wasn't much sound after that one either. Maybe the thing knew it was caught too.

"I'll say this again, who's there and show yourself!" He growled, taking another step forward. Oreo wondered how Oculus would feel if there was really nothing out there, and he was just growling at nothing. It still wouldn't be as bad as Oculus going off by himself.
