Snow and Romance and... danger (Destella)

I'm sick of being tossed around by storms....
Snowscale painfully got up, his left foreleg bent at an odd angle. He snarled quietly to himself and promptly fell down a hole into a large, spacious cavern.
"Oh fantastic..." he muttered under his breath, fully aware that he was dead meat if a monster found him.
He wandered for a few moments, keeping his injured forearm close to his body. After a moment he could take the pain no longer, and fell to the ground with a roar of dismay.

Des followed behind Snowscale, surprised to see Jade standing at the entrance. She stayed fairly quiet until the Skywing mentioned that she patched him up. The statement got her green feathers to show a hint of red, and a smile to come to her jaws. "It... it was nothing."

Then Snowscale asked his twin how she had found them. It was a good question. Destella never saw her when they took off, but this was her love's sister. She was probably just worried about him.

Snowscale ushered Jade into the cave, still wary. His sister was a pretty honest and open dragon, but she was acting a bit strange...
Snowscale shook himself, convinced he was just being paranoid. Of COURSE Jade would have changed after years of being by herself: he knew for a fact that he had.
"Well, I'm not sure how much room you'll have... there's another nearby cave that I'm pretty sure is unoccupied."
"Sounds good. I'll leave you two lovebirds alone. Snowscale, don't you DARE do anything stupid without me."
Snowscale laughed. "If I do something extremely stupid, Destella and I will let you know."
Jade smiled and left, saying a goodbye over her shoulder.
Jade is the best.... ah, it's good to still have her in my life.
Snowscale couldn't help but smile at the thought that he was no longer the last one of his family left. Now, there was truly hope for his sanity.
Between her and Destella, there is NO WAY I'm going to lose it... at least not anytime soon....

Destella watched as Snowscale let Jade in, happy that Snowscale seemed to be enjoying himself. As the conversation went on, the dragoness call Snowscale and Des lovebirds, cause she feathers to again gain a red tint. She then chuckled at the idea of tell the other dragoness that her brother had done something stupid. How would that conversation even start?

Once Jade had said goodbye and left, Des carefully leaned on Snowscale, being sure she wouldn't hurt him. She then looked at him with a smile as she began to speak. "It was nice seeing her again."

Snowscale nodded. "That's for sure. I'm glad she has apparently not seen Firebrand around too."
He stretched a bit and winced. "And hopefully that or any bullette doesn't get in.... I think a few more quarts of blood and I'll be down and out..."
Snowscale swayed slightly, as if his body was proving his point. He giggled a bit, feeling a bit lightheaded. "Yep, definitly going to be out. Lost lots of blood..." Snowscale slurred before passing out.

Des watched as Snowscale passed out, quickly being sure he wasn't still bleeding. Once she was sure he was ok, the serpent smiled and laid next to him, getting close before she shut her eyes, not to sleep, but just to rest.

Snowscale almost wasn't surprised when he found himself in his cave. He was aware he was dreaming, but it was the human standing in front of him that caught his attention.
Snowscale sat bolt upright. "Who are you?
What are you doing here?"
The human was very short, perhaps not even four feet tall. That's when Snowscale also noticed his pointy ears and definite different structure. A large-brimmed hat also caught his attention, with a golden feather sticking up from it.
The short man jumped back. He was young a young adult, he could tell that much. "Please, sir, I meant you no startlement. I.... I didn't know I was invading the dreams of a dragon. I am called Ronin Lighthollow by those who are my friends, and halfling scum from my enemies. It appears that my intended target, ah, must have sent me elsewhere."
The supposed "halfling" flickered for a moment, but Snowscale was curious. "No, stay and talk for a moment."
"Wake up first. I think I see you in the cave."

Des just laid there, thinking about what would happen next. Where would she and Snowscale go next? What would the future hold for them? Would Firebrand ever leave them alone...? Her mind just drifted from place to place until a chill ran down her body.

The serpent opened her eyes to see a wind blowing into the small cave. She then looked at Snowscale. He didn't have her nice insulation, so he could get colder then she would. Destella decided to help by coiling around him some, hoping her own feathers would keep him warmer.

Snowscale stirred. He noticed instantly that Destella was curled around him and smiled. He thought that he might have had a dream, but wasn't entirely sure what about.
"Hey there. Thanks for keeping me warm." Snowscale said with a loving nuzzle.

Destella smiled at Snowscale's words, giving him a long nuzzle as well. "No problem." She then noticed that something seemed to be on his mind. She gave the white dragon a curious look before speaking. "What's on your mind?"

"I had a dream... but I can't quite remember what about...." Snowscale shrugged and lay his head down, still feeling a bit dizzy and lightheaded. "My head feels like I've been slamming it into a tree."

Des smiled as she rubbed his head with her wing. "Well, you did just pass out." Her tail then twined around his own as she thought. She wondered what the dream was, but gentle nuzzled him again before speaking. "As for your dream, it's hard to remember most. Maybe it'll come back to you."

"My, you have ALREADY forgot the brief chat we had? I'm a bit offended." a new voice said from the cave entrance. A small humanoid patterned in on light feet, looking amused. Two obsidian knives hung at his side, gleaming a bit in the dark cave. A large brimmed hat sat upon his head, with a strange emblem and golden feather stuck upon it. His eyes were a merry green, his hair the color or the rare metal platinum. He was looking at Snowscale, but he winked at Destella.
"What business do you possess with me? Take my riches? Kill me? Or just sit there and try to look pretty?"
The short humanoid laughed. "You are at least straight to the point, Snowscale. I come on the fact that a being named Firebrand plagues you."
Snowscale stared at the short man, dumbfounded. "What? How do you.... What... How......"
The short man chuckled yet again. "Ah, well. One of my friends seeks this particular demon. He just sent me to tell you not to slice off his head. In my opinion, it would let out a bit of his hot air, but ah well. Nobility often has inflated opinion. Ah..... Mind if I stick around for the show?"
Snowscale glanced at his love, not sure what to say.

Destella gave a shocked look. The new being looked human, but he wasn't. He was something different, but what? And then he mentioned a brief talk. Was he actually in her love's dream? Then he winked at Destella causing her feathers to gain a red tint.

Then the man mentioned Firebrand, causing Des to go pale, and, like Snowscale, she could only get some questioning words out. W-wait? H-h-how do you...?" Then he asked for Snowscale not to kill that mad dragon. She looked over at Snowscale, who was glancing at her, not really knowing what to say about this.

The small humanoid stared at the two, finally seeming to decide something. "Well, if it helps, you might as well know my name." The short man gained a somewhat meek bearing, smiling faintly. "By those who know me I am called Ronin Lighthollow, and admittedly it is not my given name. I have travelled far and wide, from the dark town of Griselwood to the secret home of the Vilidin."
Snowscale stared at the small man."Well... I guess you could go tell your friend it's safe and then come back."
The short humanoid dashed off.
Snowscale blinked."Please tell me I wasn't the only one who saw that."

Destella could hardly take her eyes off the spot the little being was even when he left. Did she really just see that. The Snowblaze asked if she saw it. Thank Pyrria she wasn't going nuts. She just looked at her love, still confused. "I still don't quiet believe it, but yeah. I saw it too."

Snowscale frowned. "For a second, I think I might have smelled ash and lightning on that.... person.You think maybe the humans are fighting again?"

”R-really?” Destella’s feathers became paler at the thought. She leaned against Snowscale a bit, now worried about humans.

Snowscale nodded. "I smelled blood too.... although I can't put a name to it...."
Snowscale frowned, thinking. His ears pricked up at the sound of footsteps coming into the cave. Sure enough, a human appeared. Two small crossbows were dangling on his side, but it was the golden badge the human was rubbing that caught Snowscale's attention.
"So.... are you the one Ronin spoke of?" Snowscale asked slowly. He noted that the human was full grown, but he looked very very young.
"Yes. I am called Rayg Stormwall. Or to those in my nation, 'Prince Rayg.'" He sighed and looked like he didn't much like the title of 'prince'. "I'll put this simply: I'm here to ask about a dragon named Firebrand. Or rather, the demon calling itself a dragon. I have weregild to pay for. Revenge.So far he and his pet Tempest have sent me to five different planes within a week. And I need to know if I can count on you two to not kill everyone that may come through."
Snowscale was caught off guard. Sure, he lived in these mountains, but the only creatures that possessed even some intelligence was the wolves. He glanced at Destella and said, "Can we talk about it a bit?"
The human shrugged. "We need to move tomorrow. It may be our last chance. I'll be back by sunset." He seemed to vanish in smoke, and it took Snowscale a full twenty seconds to realize he ran off as fast lightning. Literally, for he smelled the ozone-like scent of it.
Odd....

Des was shocked when the human appeared, not liking the fact he was anywhere near her and Snowscale. She just leaned into the white dragon, feeling safer near him. Then the human spoke, but the surprise was that he spoke their tongue.

Even odder, he said not to "kill everyone that came through." This only awarded the human a critical look. She didn't like this guy. At all. Then he said they move tomorrow? What was he planning?

Once he left, Destella looked over at her love, having a concerned look on her face. "Should we trust him?"

Snowscale frowned. "I'm not sure....
But he claims to know about Firebrand, and he seems decent..... I just get the sense that they are wasting their time...." Snowscale honestly didn't know what else to say.

Destella just gave a gentle nod before rubbing her wings against his. ”Well, no matter what, we know we can rely on each other.”

Snowscale smiled. "True."

Rayg hoped that the two dragons would let the last remnants of the Vilidin through. He really, really did not want to kill them.
Please let them let us through.

Firebrand frowned at the gathered wolves. Clearly the Vilidin had somehow followed him. This bodes ill for me.... if they return to Griselwood.... Silently he took off.

Destella laid there for a moment, until she finally looked at Snowscale with a curious look. ”So, do we just stay here, of leave? I don’t know if I trust that guy.”

Snowscale limped to the front of the cave. "We could head for the other den. I'm sure I could make it on foot."
Well, mostly sure.

Destella followed her love closely, not wanting him to push it too hard, and worried he would pass out again. She then looked Snowscale in the eye before responding to him. ”Ok. I’ll be right by you if you need help.”
