First topic message reminder :

I'm sick of being tossed around by storms....
Snowscale painfully got up, his left foreleg bent at an odd angle. He snarled quietly to himself and promptly fell down a hole into a large, spacious cavern.
"Oh fantastic..." he muttered under his breath, fully aware that he was dead meat if a monster found him.
He wandered for a few moments, keeping his injured forearm close to his body. After a moment he could take the pain no longer, and fell to the ground with a roar of dismay.

He didn't see it, but he had been in the region and been attacked by one before. So he had a good guess.
"Fly higher! It's a bullette! They like to--"
A huge creature that looked like a snapping turtle and an armadillo slammed into Snowscale with a huge bellow. Knocked senseless, Snowscale could only scream as he felt huge claws tearing into his underbelly.

Destella flew as quickly as she could, trying to climb as high as she could. That was when she heard Snowscale scream, and when she saw the Bullette, and what it was doing to the drake.

The feathered dragoness made a snap decision and dove for Snowscale. At the same time, she yelled "Close you're eyes," and used Flash on the creature.

After that, Des quickly wrapped her tail around Snowscale's body, trying to pull him away from the creature.

The stunned creature let go easily. Snowscale managed to not scream in agony again, but just. Blood flowed freely from his chest wound, staining his feathered scales crimson.
"S-sorry about... about that... the creature should be out for a bit if you could..." Snowscale grimaced in pain. "Carry me out.......?"

Destella gave a nervous smile as she nodded. "I should be able to." She then wrapped her body around him and began to get away from the creature.

Once they were away from the bullette, she uncoiled herself from him and looked at the wound, twining her tail with his as she did. "We need to close this."

Snowscale shut his eyes. "A needle and thread would sow it together as long I don't move too fast."
He winced a bit as more blood dripped onto the ground, forming a small puddle.
Well, it could be worse.

Des began to look around, trying to think of where to get a needle or thread. She then remembered something, and began to dig through the snow.

The serpent smiled when she finally found what she needed, and began to pull some long roots out of the ground. Des then slithered over, and worriedly looked at Snowscale. "I have something that can substitute for thread, but I don't think either of us will like what I need to use for the needle."

Once Destella said this, one of her fangs unfolded, and she did her best to have the root hold on to it. She once again looked at Snowscale. What would happen if she couldn't save him? What if he died here? All she could do was try to put these ideas into the back of her mind, but her face showed it.

She then got up the nerve to speak again. "Are you ready?"

Des began the process of trying to stitch Snowscale's wound with her fang and some runners. She really didn't like using using her fangs on the dragon she loved, or tasting another dragon's blood, the serpent kept going.

Snowscale welcomed the relief of most of the pain as his chest and sounds were closed up. "Thanks. I think that I can get up now...."
Snowscale slowly got back onto his feet, staggering slightly. He grit his teeth but made no other indications that he was in pain.
"There is a nearby cave we can rest in until I feel better. The bullette won't be able to get in."
Snowscale staggered off to the left, grinding his teeth from pain as he moved a small boulder away from the entrance. "After you."

Destella was happy when she finally closed the wound, but quickly put some snow in he maw before spitting it out. The she watched as Snowscale got up, though still in pain, and revealed a cave. He ushered her to enter before him, so she did, though she did look everywhere this time, not wanting to be jumped again.

The cave was just bit enough for the Skywing and Lightwing. There was another clutter of papers on a far wall and Snowscale quickly shoved them into a crevice before Destella could get a good look at them.
"So... here it is. It's a lot smaller than my other, but comfortable."
He flopped down on what appeared to be a sheepskin rug and laid down his head. He let out a content sigh, happy to be resting and with Destella.

Destella thought the cave was nice for what she guessed was a backup den. Sure it was tight, but nothing could get in. She did wonder what the papers were, but just decided not to ask. She the looked at Snowscale as her feathers when from white to their normal color. "It sure does."

After saying this, she coiled some and laid down next to Snowscale, wrapping her tail around his as she did. "I'll be right here if you need me." The dragoness then nuzzled her love.

"Thanks,"Snowscale runs plied, nuzzling her back. "Hopefully this time the nightmares stay away."
Snowscale curled into a little ball and closed his eyes, but only appeared to be sleeping. Over the years he had managed to feign sleep. I wonder what tomorrow will bring....

Firebrand looked down at the slain bullette. It had hardly put up a fight, even in his now thin form. He looked at his white feathery scales that looked so much like Snowscale's sister's. He smiled.
You're not the only one with a secret weapon Snowscale.

Destella smiled, and laid her head next to his. She then managed to slip into sleep.

Snowscale fell asleep soon after Destella.
And he dreamed of fire, blood, and a certain skull.
He woke up slowly, trying to make sense of the dream. He had seen the skull with fiery eyes, just watching him as he stood over Destella's limp form.
Snowscale shuddered. Not a pleasant thought.

As Destella slept, she had a nightmare about Firebrand. It was just like what happened in Snowscale's den, except this time he won. She woke up with a jerk, her feathers going pale. The serpent then tightened he grip on Snowscale's tail and moved closer to the white scaled drake.

Destella shivered a bit as she thought about the bad dream, but smiled at Snowscale for his concern. "A nightmare of... what happened yesterday. If had gone differently." Des then nuzzled her love.

Snowscale nodded in understanding. "I used to have those. It took a bit for me to be able to ignore them.
Nowadays it takes a pretty strong nightmare to get to me."

Des stayed close to Snowscale as she listened to him. The serpent lifted he head and nuzzled him again. "Maybe they'll stop when we get away from Firebrand. From how you described this pass, he should think we're slain now."

"Hopefully. I've tried taking my death before. Hopefully this time it works." Snowscale shook off the last remnant of the dream, that of which he was standing over Destella's limp form.
It was just a dream..... wasn't it?

((sorry it took me a while to respond; I think I was about to once at my house yesterday afternoon but got distracted. My bads))
Snowscale stood up and tentatively stretched. Pain still jolted him, waking him up fully, but he could tell it was better than bleeding out all over the place. "The bleeding has stopped, which is good...
I get the feeling I'll be grounded for a while though...I've had wounds similar to this before, and it usually takes about three weeks to a month to heal completely."
Snowscale sighed. A month without being in the sky...I'm going to miss it, and badly.
Of course, there IS a bright side. I could be alone again.
At least I have Destella.
He smiled at that thought and brushed his wings with hers.

Destella smiled when she saw that the bleeding had at least stopped, though she couldn't believe Snowscale had had injuries like this before now. She then heard how long he couldn't fly. She felt sad for him, but was hoping she could help.

Then Des felt him brush his wings on hers, and let out a small giggle before returning by brushing his wings."Well, I'll help however I can."

"Thanks." Snowscale looked out at the entrance to the small cave, and he wished that he could just go back to his normal den.
I wonder how my sister is doing....
As if thinking of her summoned her, Jade's voice called out. "Snowscale! Are you here?"
"Jade? That you?" Snowscale replied, limping over towards the entrance.
He saw her next to the boulder that concealed the entrance, and she smiled at him when he came into view. "Thank Lupus you're okay! There was a bulette out there and blood. For a second... for a second I'd thought it had gotten you. Your scent was mixed with the blood."
Snowscale chuckled. "Yeah, it got me pretty good." He twisted, revealing the stitched up claw marks on his underbelly. "Would've bled out if it wasn't for Destella." He paused for a moment. "But how'd you find us? You went off to go to your den for something or other..."
Jade looked a bit embarrassed. "I-I followed you. I saw you leaving and wanted to see where you were going."
"Oh." Snowscale said simply, but his mind was a bit more active than his mouth at the moment.
I was SURE to keep the beginning of the trip in the clouds. There is no way she could have seen us.
But why would JADE lie about that? And where is Firebrand?
