Crystal Blue Seas-a guide to the Seawings Empty Crystal Blue Seas-a guide to the Seawings

Post by Shiningwater Wed Jul 02, 2014 2:38 pm

We are the only tribe that can reside on all three levels. The Sky, the Land, the Water. We use this to our advantage, and only we can use the water.

You glance around, squinting at the bright sun bouncing off the shining waves and brilliant white beach. You can feel the fine sand underneath you feet, and smell salt. The forest you came from lies behind you, filled with chattering birds and swaying trees, backed tightly together. To your left and right are scattered things of rock, tide pools. Filled with crabs, anemones, sea urchins, and the occasional stranded fish. In front of you lies what you came for. The sea. It's rolling blue waves crash on the shore, and in the distance you can see an island with what may have been a palm tree on it.
The water suddenly churns in front of you, and you take a step back, surprised, confused, and shocked. it rolls of deep blue scales, stripped with sky blue. A bag hangs around the dragon's neck, along with a shell necklace. Her brilliant green eyes meet yours. "You must be the one I was sent to find. What's you're name?" You take a moment to answer, slightly surprised at the dragon's kind tone. She nods in response. "Welcome to Seawing Territory. I am Shiningwater, Seawing Healer and Female Seawing Leader. I assume you are here to see our territory?" She doesn't wait for you to nod before grinning widely. "Most of it's underwater, so I hope you can breath down here, or at least hold your breath for a long time. Because we won't come back up until we reach the palace." She steps back into the water, the waves breaking against her stocky forelegs. "Come, come! We have much to see!"

Seawing Information

(This is the average Seawing, feel free to go out of these characteristics)
SeaWings are the 2nd smallest dragons. Their scales range from blue to green to aquamarine, sometimes with hints of silver that sparkle in the sun. They have webs in between their claws and flat, crocodile-like tails that makes them excellent swimmers, and gills on their necks that allow them to breathe underwater. SeaWings are just as much at home in the water as on land or in the air, maybe even more so. They have glow-in-the-dark stripes located on their tails, snouts, and underbellies that are used to attract other SeaWings when they choose their mates, and also for underwater communication, known as Aquatic. Their tails are used to splash the water to cause huge waves at their enemies.
They can breath water of many forms, or can just as easily control or manipulate it.

Seawing Territory

  • Serine Beach- The border of Seawing territory, the beach extends for miles. With it's brilliant white sands and warm rocks to lie on, it's a common hang-out for relaxing Seawings. Not to mention the easy food at the tidepools.
  • Kelp Forest-In a shallow area of the Seawing territory-by comparison-the kelp forest is home to plenty of types of fish and other creatures, not to mention where the hatchlings come to hide from parents!
  • The Palace- The heart of the Seawing Kingdom, a large blue palace rises up from a shallower point of the ocean. Filled with the rooms Seawings have come to call home, as well as the official kitchen and dining room. Ornate shells decorate the inside and out, and it's not uncommon to see Seawings lounging lazily in the large pieces of furniture. The palace holds a room for every Seawing, and nobody is too low of rank to visit.
  • Deep Ravine-No Seawing has dared explored the depths of the ravine, as nobody has manage to get down far enough to see the bottom of it. There are tunnels branching off the sides of it, leading to Shardas knows where, Seawings and animals alike have gotten lost in the labyrinth of caves, and very few have come back out.
  • Sandy Bed- An area where the water is shallow and warm, with soft sand blanketing the ground. Minnows reside here, along with the occasional shark or dolphin pod.
  • Open Waves The far edge of the territory, deep expanses of open ocean with little to no landmarks or life, not many visit here, as there is very little to see.
  • Port City- The Port city is-for the most part-completely safe and harmless. It is inhabited by humans, most of which are unaware of the existance of dragons, or don't care. But, there is the possibility of being hit by boats or caught in nets. As well as the pollution which sometimes causes issues. Finally, there is the occasional Dragon Hunter. There are risks, but they are not common to come by.

The Palace

The Seawing Palace consists of two parts. One above the water, and one below. They are connected, but only the Seawings have access to the underwater part.
The palace above the water extends fairly high into the air, high enough to be seen above the waves, but low enough that it isn't damaged by the storms and wind that often plague the seas. This part of the palace is to welcome dragons from the other tribes, with spare bunks for them to sleep should they be invited over, or should be caught in the storm. It is complete with kitchens, places to hang out, and numerous dining halls, with one being far larger than the rest.
The training room is set in the back of the palace, with part of it indoors and covered by a dome, and the other part completely out in the open. Out front there is a large balcony that extends out a ways for dragons to land, and it has a part that slopes gently into the water for Seawings to climb on an off of.
Underwater is restricted to Seawings only, with separate kitchens, bunks, and halls, as well as open rooms for meetings.

Allies and Enemies

The Seawings remain generally neutral, and tend to not get involved in any wars, and don't consider any tribes allies, but may assist if they see value in helping another tribe. Things are tense between the Seawings and Firewings-the only tribes that Seawings are not neutral towards. Seawings and Firewings-because of their clashing elements-are hostile towards each other, but not enough to go to war. Enough for mistrust to reside.

Seawing Ceremonies

Entering the Tribe: When an outsider wishes to join the ranks of the Seawings, they are given a Trial. They must be able to hold their breath for 15 minutes (this part removed if they can breath underwater), be able to beat-or come close to beating-a tracker in a race, and must hold a conversation in only aquatic.

Trainee to Gaurdian/Tracker/Healer: The mentor and guide of said Trainee gives the young dragon a task, whether it be to hunt or spy if they are training to to be a tracker, or to fight their mentor or another trainee if they are a gaurdian, or to even treat a wound for the Healer.

Hatchling to Trainee: When a young dragon has finally comes of the age to become a trainee, the King/Queen will consult with them to try and decide what role they wish to assume. Upon deciding, the King/Queen will assign a Mentor, or a guide, to the new Trainee, to help them learn all the skills they need to fulfill that role.

Rise of the Leader: On that rare time a leader steps down or dies, the Lieutenant assumes the role as leader. If there is no lieutenant-Shardas forbid-the tribe decides a whole who they believe the next leader should be, and said dragon takes command. The new King/Queen must then choose a Lietenant.

Rise of the Lieutenant: If a lieutenant should step down or die, the leader-along with the tribe-helps decide who should assume new role.

Prey

Water

  • Fish (salmon, Tuna, sardines, schooling fish): Common
  • Shark: Uncommon
  • Dolphin: Rare
  • Shellfish: Common
  • Sailfish, Swordfish, Marlin, Large fish: Uncommon

Land

  • Deer: Common
  • Bird: Common

Dangers

Water:

  • Megalodon: Danger level: Extreme. An incredably rare species, the megalodon is a massive and previously thought extinct, this behemoth is large enough to eat a full-grown Seawing in one bite. They should not be engaged alone under any circumstances, and should in general be left to their own devices. Should a dragon need to attack one, they should bring at least a dozen others to stand any chance at all.
  • Humans: Danger level: Medium. They pose very little threat if you just stay away from them. Should they discover a dragon, they will run away screaming, or try to attack and kill it. Their boats can be harmful if the propeller comes into contact, and they have weapons they can use to capture dragons. The Seawings have had run-ins with them a few times. (See "The Past: Wars and Conflicts")
  • Kraken: Danger Level: Extreme. A Kraken is a giant octopus with long, thick and sticky tentacles-very rare. This creature lives in the deepest abyss. Its diet is based on every sea creature they could catch, including SeaWings. It can also attack human ships. A Kraken tends to draw their victims in whirlpools to swallow them inside its jaws, strangling the victims with its tentacles. The common way to defeat a Kraken is to cut off the tentacles, its main weapon, forcing the creature to retreat in the abyss. Can only be faced by a numerous group of SeaWings.

Land:

  • Humans:  Danger level: Medium. They pose very little threat if you just stay away from them. Should they discover a dragon, they will run away screaming, or try to attack and kill it. They have weapons they can use to capture dragons. The Seawings have had run-ins with them a few times. (See "The Past: Wars and Conflicts")
  • Rogues: Danger level: Medium. The fact that Seawings are the second smallest dragons alone makes rogue dragons a threat, as the chances of the being larger is high, making them a threat.

The Past

A place to honor previous leaders and influential members of our tribe.

Leaders
Aqua Splash: Former Seawing Queen. She was leader (Breaking the fourth wall for a moment, forgive me) when the site began, and went missing after a hunting trip. She has yet to return.
Korramyr: Former King, Korramyr took Aqua Splash's place when she went missing. Well known to the tribes as "The Party Dargon," Korramyr was a playful and happy dragon. Shine's first mate, and has since been missing after an incident eerily similar to Aqua Splash's. He has yet to return from a hunting trip.
Shiningwater: Former Queen and Healer to the Seawings, and the only leader to have dual roles as of now. Unlike the two before her, she willingly stepped down from the throne after realizing that she was a full goddess. She stepped away as Healer as well, though remains strongly attached to her former tribe, and when she isn't wandering around or doing other Goddess-like things, she resides near them, though she is forbidden from helping them as much as she did when she was Healer and Leader.

Wars and Conflicts
The Seawings rarely ever get involved in wars or the goings-on with other tribes, as we reside mostly in the water, where very few other tribes venture, and thus don't get involved in many wars or conflicts. Here are the few we were involved in:

Humans: There was a time when every tribe was under attack by humans. They captured dragons from every tribe, and nearly caused a war between every tribe. The dragons were saved, and were mostly unharmed. The human's motives remain unknown. (Topic: https://rpgdragons.forumotion.com/t1700-gone-missing)

This is Phantom. ^^ For the entering trial, could you change it a bit? It should be a test to test your abilities and see if you qualify to join the tribe.
Like the FireWings have the lava trial, where you have to be submerged in lava for 10 minutes.
The NightWings, you have to survive in the Rotten Forest using your abilities, horrors that can only be conquered by NightWing powers.
EarthWings, you place something underground, then you blindfold the dragon and make them look for the object using only their senses.

And etc. ^^

So maybe, the trial could be something like: Diving very deep underwater, deeper then the Deep Sea Palace, and try to successfully determine the flashing patterns of another SeaWing up above.

Dear Shine, I would like to add things:

Firstly, Rayla is a trainee What the H

Secondly, maybe we could add sub-categories, such as under sharks we could put:

Sharks:
-Sand
-Tiger
-Black-Tipped
-Great White
-Bull

And so on and so forth. And remember, you can use prehistoric prey as well, such as Megaladon (Not that they are prey, they are way too huge Razz) and Dakosaurus (a creature that looks like an alligator fused with a fish XD). And maybe you could add some important events, and the previous leaders, to add more diversity to the tribe and make new people want to join it more. Smile

I didn't add the sub-categories, because none are too dangerous, and we could easily eat all of them.
What are the rest of the trainees training to become?
And can you think of any other dangers?

Crystal Blue Seas-a guide to the Seawings Empty Re: Crystal Blue Seas-a guide to the Seawings

Post by Rayla Sun Dec 21, 2014 5:29 pm

Well, the SeaWings are the second smallest, so there are many prehistoric sea creatures that are much bigger then they are, along with some predatory dinosaurs that could easily take them down. The smallest SeaWing is about 7 to 6 meters tall, while the largest is about 10 to 11 meters tall. A great white is about 8 meters long, or perhaps 10, even, and so they could be a potential threat to SeaWings.

Spinosaurus is also a potential threat, since it was pretty big. Other aquatic life, such as the Thalassamadon, and the Tylosaurus (Look them up.)

Other land predators could be Rogues. And threats and weaknesses could be that pureblood SeaWings can't stay out of the water for longer then one day. Razz

That's fine.
There's also dragons, literal catfishes, and fire salamanders who can sit in a fire. Dragon Face Palm
We're cool.
So, I'll add some of those prehistoric critters. Specifically the ones that you mentioned, maybe a few others every now and again.

Could Mososaurs (excuse my poor spelling) be a danger? Although they are NOT dinosaurs we seem to now be using dinosaurs as food. Perhaps because they both come from the Mesozoic we could add them.

Rayla/Opal: No. I meant a large red salamander who can resist the heat of fire. Vale has a few in her forge, and has one as a pet. Razz
Delphin: I'll add this when I get the time. Smile They could be a high danger, but not extreme.
Barracuda: I thought they were dinosaurs? Anyway, I'll look it up and add them when I get the time.

Actually, Pterosaurs, pliesiosaurs, and mososaurs are not dinosaurs, however I'm pretty sure they evolved from the same common ancestor. What if Celocanths (that's a fish and a living fossil) were also prey? Pterosaurs could be prey too.

Another monster I'm thinking about:

- Kraken. Very rare specie

Level of danger: EXTREME. A Kraken is a giant octopus with long, thick and sticky tentacles. These creature lives in the deepest abyss. Its diet is based on every sea creature they would catch, including SeaWings. Kraken tends to draw their victims in whirlpools to swallow them inside its jaws, strangling the victims with its tentacles. Indeed the seas are very, very dangerous. Simple suggestions by Atlas (ICC)

Stay always near the coast. Never swim too far from the palace. Avoid open ocean. Don't approach human ships and ports. With these suggestions, you are going to be safe ^^
