Tribe Customs Contest : Lightwings

On the 132nd day of the year, the Lightwings throw a stunning celebration lasting five days, generally thought to mark the middle of the year, but tracing its roots, turns out to have derived from an ancient Earthwing custom that celebrates the life and death of the moon goddess Aine on her brightest night. This meaning, however, is not included in the lightwing celebration.

On the first day of the celebration, the Lightwing families decorate their caves and properties with glowing rocks in preparation, and go out to the market to buy precious stones, as is the tradition that each Lightwing can give gems and colourful rocks to their friends, families, and loved ones. At the current date, it is not irregular for dragons to exchange other gifts, such as luxuries and decorations.

On the second day, families will often work together to create a brilliant light show made from explosives and glowing powder. These fireworks are put on top of the roof of each lightwing den to be displayed but not fired when the families finish. Some families decide to wait it out until the last day and fire up a single, stunning and artistic firework while others prepare humble explosives and fill the roof with them.

On the third day of the celebration, gifts are exchanged at family reunions and at social gatherings.
Many families will stay up that night to see the moonrise at its brightest and prepare their fireworks.

On the dawn of the fourth day, all the fireworks are to go off at the down of the moon, illuminating the city in a luminous and fantastic glow as the moon goes down.
Feasts are had, and the market closes, as it is officially the holiday. At night, flying shows are sometimes assembled, where fliers covered in bright and dazzling costumes will fly around areas, often using their lightwing abilities to make themselves even brighter.

On the fifth day, there are no celebrations, and families may even begin to remove the rock decorations. The markets are closed and the city seems silent. Some don't even consider the fifth day to be a part of the celebration, but the silence marks a new age for the Lightwings, big and small.

A Lightwing's curiosity starts from the moment it hatches. Early in their lives, the youngsters receive a rather particular toy. It consists in an extremely solid glass sculpted with geometrical forms, in which a polished metallic piece has been inserted. This toy may seem extremely simple, but it holds a special place in a Lightwing's life.
Any incoming light is decomposed by the glass, which acts as a prism. The metal piece inside will reflect this light, sending mesmerizing shines back to the outside. The hatchling often spends years experimenting with it, trying to find the most beautiful combinations of light and reflections. Later, when they master the art of breathing pure light, they will use the toy to decompose their own light, once again searching for their favorite combination.
Once the dragon grows up and becomes adult, this peculiar toy is often kept as a decoration. However, it is not unusual for one to play with it again by nostalgia, or for daring dragons to try and impress a possible mate with a breathtaking show of colors.
Bigger versions of this toy can also be used during festivals or similar artistic performances. Lightwings are the masters of light, and this contraption proves it.
