Re: Tribe Customs Contest : Earthwings
At the end of every season, Earthwings will set up markets of interesting stuff like animals and artworks that any dragon can come as long they won't harm anyone there. They will also hold a contest of Bug catching and showing. During the contest, the hatchlings/trainees have to find and catch a bug, any of kind of bug, and bring them to the bug competition section of the markets. It will be judged on the rarest of bugs AND the most bugs caught, the judges are the Leaders.
The next competition is the fruit picking competition, participators have to get as many fruit as they can in a set amount of time. Any kind of dragons can participate if they want to BUT they will be dragons on lookout in case of cheaters, so don't cheat or you will out of the competition. If the the season is Autumn/Winter they have to collect as many flowers as they can instead. At the end of the contest, the participators brings fruits/flowers back to the markets for judging. The most fruits/flowers picked wins the competition. Prizes are decided by leaders and fruits will be placed in the center for eating.
When those two competitions finishes, the Earthwings wait for everyone to have their lunch and they gathers then around the circle for a tree planting event. What they do is plant trees to help the Earthwings' forest grow and celebrate the God of Nature. (Well, I'm not sure if they actually worship gods from the looks of the Gods and Goddess section). This event doesn't include competition but everyone gets a small prize for participating.
At the end of this event at autumn, the Earthwings encourages dragons to clean up their forest by sweeping the leaves off the forest floor. At Winter, they have a huge snow fight, at Spring they plants some flowers to celebrate 'Rebirth' and at summer they collect buckets of water for a water fight.
Re: Tribe Customs Contest : Earthwings
Some Tribes may have found a way to create artistic items using fancy materials, but Earthwings alone managed to transform one of the most common resources into magnificent items : the dirt.
And more than artistic, this knowledge also proves rather useful. The Earthwings are indeed masters when it deals with crafting jars and other pottery.
This art is taught to the youngest Earthwings, allowing them to craft their own recipients. Choosing the right dirt is a crucial part of this art, and don't you worry the youngsters are all too happy to scrap some dirt for this. And of course decoration is always fun! Everything, from flowers to shiny rocks or feathers, can be used to decorate the jars. With of course the mandatory dose of pigments to color the piece.
Master craftsmen will often use rare jewels and intricate motives on the jars they craft. Some of those have made their way as far as to the Shadow Refuge, having their place among the finest art dragon kind has made.
This craftsmanship also plays a big role when a dragon wants to seduce a dragoness. When two dragons get engaged, the custom states each of the dragons should offer to the parents of the other a jar specially crafted for the occasion. Families with several children often end up with a beautiful collection of jars.
