Never Lose Hope

So let the plot begin !

Rhune grunted as he pushed the bar in front of him, turning around a pillar as he was powering some sort of mechanism. What kind of mechanism, that he didn't know. Nor he cared. He didn't have the strength to even wonder what was the meaning of what he was doing. He was doing it. If he didn't, he was assured to get whipped, or worse. At least by doing his job he was assured not to get whipped... too much. That was his daily life : pushing a bar, motioning some mechanism or breathe some fire under the supervision of the guards to earn a pitiful meal and a few hours of sleep. He was just going on and surviving. The rest... he was always too tired to think.
Suddenly the bar he was pushing stopped, the mechanism being blocked. By what, he didn't know. But this time he cared for a simple reason : if it wasn't starting to turn again in a few seconds, he was good for a whipping. The green dragon put as much weight as he could on the bar, hoping it would be enough to make it turn again. But between his weakness and his body being light from the constant starvation, he couldn't put enough pressure to make it start again. A jolt of pain on his flank informed him it already was too late.
"Push harder you useless beast !" the guard yelled as he whipped Rhune once more.
The dragon could only yelp in pain as he tried the hardest he could to make the mechanism move. After a few hits from the whip, the guard seemed to understand the mechanism was blocked. Rhune's flank was painful, the whip having left some clean cuts through the scales. Scales that were almost useless as they were so thin.
"Hey you ! Help him with this." the guard ordered to another dragon.

Milo let out a sigh as Opyn insisted again. He really didn't like the idea to restrain a dragon, especially when his aim was to free them. But if it was necessary he would have no choice but to do it.
The human got closer from the orange dragon and started to set up the muzzle on him. He made his movements as gentle as possible in order not to hurt the dragon with the heavy apparel, and didn't tie the pieces too tightly on him. The result was a rather lose muzzle that hopefully wouldn't bother him too much, but still restraining his mouth.
"I'm sorry. Let us start then, the sooner we'll be there the sooner I'll remove that muzzle." the human apologized.
Milo then started to walk away, waiting for the dragons to catch up with him. Rhune didn't lose any time doing so, following Milo closely. The green dragon wondered what the place he was guiding them to would look like. Would it be as beautiful as where they were now? The sky above them was so pretty. There were lights everywhere in it, as well as a bigger one lighting the way just enough for Milo to see - though, the dragons, used to a dim light, would have no problem with this.

It seemed there wasn't enough time for Milo to answer the Wyvern's questions. It didn't matter to Atarijor. He really wanted to get going anyway, even if he was a little afraid of what they might encounter. As Milo and Rhune walked off, Atar followed as quickly as he could with his wounds bothering him. He stopped once to see it Opy was following, too. He looked up as best he could to see the sky... there were tiny torches littering it and a large fire pit that shone brighter than all of them. Why were torches up there? How were they not falling down? The Wyvern sniffed the aiir. It still felt a little odd to him to breathe in air that wasn't clogged with dust. As they walked on, Atar tried not to think about the water and food in his satchel. He was quite hungry but too excited about the unknown world around him to stop. Besides, he knew his food had to last him for awhile.

Milo opened the way, walking along the road. It was a bare road, but the weather was rather dry, and the dirt solid. Even the dragons weren't really leaving a trail to follow. That was quite a good thing, actually. That meant anyone who would try to track where they escaped would have a hard time doing so.
The road was heading straight, between the fields that were bordering the town. It was quite a weird sight for Rhune. He was used to seeing walls and small rooms, but here on the opposite the road seemed to go on infinitely, farther than what he could see. Things being farther than he could see... The whole concept was hard to integrate. There were so many things he was seeing tonight. The sky, the river, the grass, the road... And the air. A pure air, free of the heavy smell of sweat and dust that was prevailing in the underground.
And so they walked. Rhune had expected them to get to something after a few minutes, after all the world couldn't be that big... But the more they walked, the father the road seemed to lead. Rhune was already starting to get tired. After his long day, his body longed for sleep, and this nightly activity wasn't making it any better. And his paws were hurting.
"Milo? Are we there soon?" the green dragon finally asked, after a long moment.
But the human only let out a sigh.
"Not soon, Rhune. We'll need some hours of walking to get where we want to." the human replied.
Rhune lowered his head at the answer. Some hours? That was so long! The green dragon focused back on the walking. One paw after the other...
