Current state of the Nightwings

Following what became known as the Twilight Reckoning which shook the Imperium to its foundations, while the greatest blow was the fall of the Imperiums capital itself the Twilight Spire the individual regions and the tribes what inhabited them within the empires suffered catastrophic suffering at the emergence of the beasts. The Nightwings under Archon Tenebris who while under the Imperium enjoyed their lenient autonomy to govern their own province without the need to abolish their cultural slaves what overwise were frowned upon by many of their fellow Dragonkin cousins, especially their own King of the Imperium such as their continued practice of slavery and subterfuge. The Nightwings were crippled and suffered like all others within the Imperium during the Reckoning, their culture and holdings all but fallen into ruin.

Mainland

The Nightwing mainland known as the heartland by those of the Tribe suffered like the majority of the Imperium’s Holdings, the Capital of Amaranthine having been sacked and its cultural beauty and treasures lost and stolen now found in the hordes of the monstrous beasts what sieged the Palace and capital, its architectural marvel now reduced to little more than ruins, this is the same outcome for the major fort of Oculu’s Folly and the Tenebrae Academy once the seat of training all branches of the Nightwing military.

While the land itself provides some manoeuvrability due to the heartlands harsh climate and toxic surroundings to many of the natural races of Pyyria the beasts what emerged during the reckoning have an immunity to the many diseases and plagues and ravage the land much like the Nightwings themselves, this has while limited the mobility of many of the beasts hordes of the creatures still roam the land. What Nightiwings remain in the heartland have retreated to the deepest core of the swamplands, shark Isles and the Isles of Osul. Very few outposts remain operational and those what do now serve as checkpoints for many of the reconnaissance patrols sent from the Ebonwing Isles and the long distance hunting parties. At this current time apart from a few independent skirmishes against the monsters there has been no large effort of resistance within the Nightwing homeland to push back the beasts, thus the land is currently more of a desolate hunting ground.

Ebonwing Isles

The Isles of Aeterna Dominus, better known as the Ebonwing Isles what were once a holding purely to the Nightwing Tribe now serves not only as the last bastion of the Nightwings, but is now a sanctum which welcomes all Dragonkin and even what the Nightwings considered lesser species. During the aftermath of the Reckoning many of the survives fled to the Isles for protection and sanctuary, while the Isles were once known as the personal holdings of many of the Nightwing upper echelon and the seat of their intellectual pursuits from institutions such as the Nightwings Magi Circle and Royal Apothecary society, the land now belongs to noone in particular, even while the Archon Tenebris remains with the title of Protector of the Isles many Dragons especially from those even outside the Imperium are not by any means dominated by the Nightwings, the lands purely now a sanctuary for all.

The royal palaces and institutional buildings now harbour many dragons of all tribes as refugee holdings. With the fall of the Archons cabinet which consisted of the most prominent Nightwings in their society has fallen governance has fallen to unconventional methods given that survival is now the one and only prominent policy which any Dragon now concerns themself with, to this end while no official comment has been released by the Archon, slavery at least for now of the lesser races has been abandoned with the collapse of the Nightwing economic powerhouse and thus lesser races have been treated like any other refugee in the isles at this time.

The individual islands of Saeclum and Agnus were officially given by the Archon to the Firewing and Earthwing tribes respectfully, while refuges of all tribes and races still congregate and live there, by all rights the islands now belong to those Tribes whether this state remains such after the apocalyptic aftermath of the monster crisis remains unknown. The Island of Shadow’s Refuge remains the largest concentration of Nightwings being the location of the Onyx citadel which was the private isolated palace of the Archon despite now being occupied by any within the tribe no matter what previous standing the Archon remains as the reigning autocratic leader of the tribe working to bolster the self pride and heal his broken kin.
