Hatchling Shenanigans (OPEN)

Vireo hesitated as she took a step from the deep blue seas onto the shore. Tilting her head she looked curiously at her talons as they dug into the sand, wiggling them. With a snort, head and wings held high she trotted out of the waters in false confidence exploring the beach.

It wasn't her first time out of the seas, far from it, she simply has never explored this far from home. The calls of the unfamiliar birds and various other creatures, the new smells, it was too much for her curiosity to resist. So onto the beach she was, nosing various shells, chasing crabs along the coast line. Waiting for another boost of confidence to enter the forest that lay past the white sands.

((Hey. It's Wake. These are the characters I was talking about.))

The twins had been exploring for almost an hour now. With their Mom being busy, and the other hatchlings not wanting to play, Cyclone and Typhoon had snuck off to see what they could find. After they had heard the adults talk about the areas monsters weren't at right now, the pair got curious.

As the Twin Storms walked, Cyclone began to hear something. "Hey, Bro. Do you hear you hear that?" The two's shared body stopped as Typhoon began to listen, and he soon heard the crashing of waves. The blue eyed drake then turned to his sisters. "Yeah. It sounds like we're near a beach. Let's go check it out."

The twins then made their way to the sound, and soon found were the beach began. As they began to step onto the warm sand, Typhoon spotted something. No. Someone. He quickly turned to his body mate, saying "There's another hatchling here." Both twins just stared, still never sure how other hatchlings would react to them.

Vann rarely left the sea, but now he never did, what with the monsters wandering about on the surface. However, the SeaWings and IceWings had no leader, not for a very long time. Vann wanted to go find Draken or at least someone worthy enough to take his place. Others had done so and perished, slain by the monsters. There were very few left of the aliiance.

The Guardian emerged from the sea and crawled onto the sandy beach. Once he was completely out of the water, his flippers morphed into proper legs and paws. He settled in for a very long walk from the edge of the water to the edge of the sands.

The young dragoness was crouching, slowly inching forward with each careful step, amber orbs locked onto the tiny little turtle that was making its way back to the sea. She froze right as she was about to pounce aware she was not alone on the beach.

Slowly turning, ignoring the strange sensation of the sensitive tendrils on her nose dragging on the sand and looked at the hatchling, head tilted. Sitting down, she simply waited showing she was no threat. If they happened to be a threat, she would simply take a short leap in the air and hop back into the sea. So she waited, observing them. Unaware of the guardian as of now.

Both twins just gave the hatchling a confused look. Was she waiting for one of them to talk? Both heads looked at each other, then back at the other hatchling. Cyclone finally spoke up, though uncomfortablely. Uh.... Hi. I'm, Cyclone, and he's my brother, Typhoon."

As his sister said this, Typhoon noticed the adult dragon that had shown up. He looked at the adult, then quickly turning back to his fellow hatchling to speak, noticeably more uncomfortable then his twin. "Um... is he with you?"

"Vireo."She replied after a few moments. She squinted her eyes and came closer, the only sign of her hesitation was the shake of her paw in the first step. She stopped a few feet from them her head tilted curiously so they would only see one eye.

She stepped back, sitting on her haunches, wings fanned out to the side. "You are two in one." Vireo's tail twitched, the seaweed like appendages that looked graceful in the water hanging limp and still. Turning her head she looked back at the larger seawing, blinking her amber eyes.

As Vann slowly lumbered across the sands, he spotted a couple of Hatchlings. Didn't they know it wasn't safe to be out on their own? HIs legs wobbled as he changed direction to go toward the Hatchlings. It took about 15 minutes, but he finally reached them. Vann plopped down onto the sand as his paws and legs became flippers again. "Whew, that was tiring. Say, what are you Hatchlings doing out here by yourself? Don't you know there's monsters around?"

Both twins smiled when they heard the other hatchling's name, Vireo. Then she came closer and sat down, and asked them if they were "two in one?" Typhoon began to sit down their shared body, followed by his sister, before Cyclone responded. "Yeah. We're half hydras, and share our body."

Typhoon then looked at Vireo, noticing all of her tendrils. He then spoke up, though keeping it short. "Are you a Seawing?"

The the adult dragon walked up, slowly. He then asked what the hatchlings what they were doing out here alone. Cyclone just gave the the guardian a sly look be for responding with "We were bored, and we heard the adult talking about were the monsters were."

Vireo remained silent amongst the exchange, craning her head up to look at the large seawing. Lifting herself off the ground, the young seawing took a fluttering hop and landed on the guardians right flipper.

"Monsters? What kind of monsters?" She asked quietly, ignoring the hydra's question. Mostly due to the fact she thought the answer would be obvious with her coloring and the webbed feet. Yet she wouldnt say that for she feared being rude.

Vann stared at the hydra, dumbfounded. Did they actually want to see the monsters??? Didn't they know these things were deadly, especially to Hatchlings? "If you heard them talking, then you should be avoiding those places, not seeking them. And all sorts of monsters. Terrible ones!" Vann said to the SeaWing Hatchling. "I haven't seen many myself and I don't want to. The Tribe has taken refuge in the deepest parts of the ocean where most of those things can't get us."

Both twins looked shocked when the Seawing suggested they wanted to see the monsters. Cyclone might have wanted to, but Typhoon would never let them get close to one. "What? No!"

"We aren't crazy!"

"Yeah. We're staying away form the monster filled areas. Or at least he is."

Vireo gave the hydra's a look, one that implied she thought that would be the opposite of what they would do. Tapping a talon on the much larger and older seawing's flipper she hummed softly.

"Why do we hide? We are dragons,
we are the biggest, they should fear us?" Her brightly colored amber orbs looked up at his muzzle as she posed the question. In her humble opinion dragons were the best and scariest monsters, sea wings of course being the most amazing.

Typhoon’s eyes just blinked, giving the little dragoness a slight look of disbelief. On the other hand, the comment seemed to get Cyclone thinking. Dragons were massive super predators. They could take on a few monsters, right? However, before she could respond, her body mate brother responded with a shocked, yet smart, tone. ”Well, us hatchlings aren’t the biggest or strongest.”

”Well she has a point.”

”What? You think those things aren’t dangerous?”

”No. I just agree that it’s weird that the adults don’t just fight them off.” At this point, Typhoon looked annoyed, but shut his snout.

Albino was near the beach, smelling the air as she slowly walked. Claws burying in the sand, she put her head down to look at the water, bits of splashes hitting her white scales.

she heard voices, indeed one that was fimilar.
"Is that Cyclone and his sister?" She looked at the area, hearing the voice a bit better. She gotten up, shaking the water out of her as she carefully walked to the noise, smelling them

Vann listened to the Hatchlings and frowned. He looked down at the one who tapped him. "We don't just fight them off, because there are many of them." he repeated his earlier statement. "And some of them are much bigger than even the EarthWings, and are very powerful. It takes several to take down one of those, and every tribe suffered terrible losses when those things first appeared. So you see, even if we killed all those less threatening ones, we'd still have the bigger, more powerful ones to deal with."

She rolled onto her back with a frown as she looked up at him with a frown. "Things bigger than a dragon?" She asked, head now hanging off his flipper. "But nothing should scare a dragon! Not even sharks!" She puffed out her cheeks for that one, hiding her obvious fear for the fish.

Both twins listened to the guardian curiously. So the number of creatures is why they don’t just fight them off? Typhoon thought it was a good explanation, but Cyclone needed more, and she got it.

The guardian told the three hatchlings that there were monsters that were larger than the Earthwings! How could something be larger then them? The only things that were bigger than Earthwings, that the pair had seen, were a small amount long necked creatures known at thunderwalkers. But they did not pose any threat.

Vireo also seemed curious, though she added her own spin. She said nothing should scare dragons, including sharks, though Typhoon picked up some fear in her voice. Cyclone then responded. ”Well, I’d be scared of some dangerous creature as big as the largest thunderwalkers, but why not wipe out the little ones ?”

Albino gotten closer to the group, listening to the three. Monsters as big as Earthwings? What is a monster? She didnt know anything about these creatures yet, but they sounded dangerous.

She sat down by the tree, listening to there conversation. Should she just join them, or continue to listen? She didnt want to look like a spy or a threat , even well she is a hatchling.
