A Barrel of Fish Empty A Barrel of Fish

Post by Incus Sun Mar 08, 2020 6:47 am

The day was as usual, a boring one. Incus flew high above enjoying the sunny weather though a major storm sounded it's thunder in the far distance, he was delighted that this land receive some rain for once. Flying lower until he was above the treetops Incus spotted a large cabin along the edge of a massive river. There was a sudden flutter of happiness and a mischievous grin spread across his face.

Down there at the cabin was an old man, a fishing line out with an outstretched net going from one end of the bank to the other. That net helped catch whatever fish he could cook up in the days, some for meals and the rest dried out for snacks or emergency food. Next to his rocking chair was a barrel holding carefully stacked ales and such, a relaxing beverage for a relaxing day, another barrel full of excess salmon to the open corner of his dock. Tarkus Siege, a well known fisher and retired famous knight was enjoying his morning. So far he caught several salmon, whoppers were they, and made sure to fillet them and set them in a pot to slowly cook not long from now. He looked up, eyeing the sky for any sign of avian... that was until he manage to snag something.

Reeling his fishing line in, Tarkus began to fight and pull whatever was pulling him, unbeknownst he was caught on a crocodile. The massive beast emerged and leapt up from the roaring river and onto the deck. Immediately the less-than meaty creature spotted Tarkus and started to rush him, Tarkus pulled out a long dagger and backed up before falling to his behind. Just as the hungry beast was about to make a meal, it was swooped up by a black dragon. The Night Fury in question dropped the beast from a far enough height, allowing it to crash down on the edge of the river so that it's death would be quick.

Tarkus immediately glared at Incus who flew just above the raging river, he was thankful but loathed the damn dragon who had his barrel of fish. Like an old man, Tarkus cursed at the thieving dragon, shouting about how one day he'll catch the damn thing. Though, Tarkus didn't mind the flying lizard coming by, he simply hated how it kept stealing his catches... it was like a cat that stole his rabbit. Incus flew off in a playful manner, knowing full well the old man catches enough fish to feed him for weeks. With the open barrel upright he soared until seeing multiple hillsides within the EarthWing territory. He began to take a familiar path only he knew, his den not far now.

A Barrel of Fish Empty Re: A Barrel of Fish

Post by Elara Sun Apr 05, 2020 11:05 am

For once, Elara did something she wasn't supposed to do. She snuck away from home in the middle of the night and went flying. She went in a random direction, just wanting to explore. Mom and Dad always told her and her siblings how dangerous the world was, especially for them since they were hybrids.. But how bad could the world really be? It couldn't be that bad if their parents regularly ventured out into it and even had kids in the first place.

Elara thought that explanation sounded pretty good. She hoped it was good enough to keep her from getting into trouble if her mom found out about her little midnight flight. Elara looked down toward the ground to see where she was... not that that helped when the only place she had ever been was home. Eventually, though she saw another dragon. It looked a lot different than her and her siblings. It also appeared to be carrying something. Wait... was that fish? The hybrid's stomach growled. She hadn't eaten since dinner. Maybe this dragon would be nice enough to share... Elara flew a little faster to catch up. "Hey! Can I have some of your fish? I'm hungry!"

A Barrel of Fish Empty Re: A Barrel of Fish

Giving and amused huff, Incus continues to fly low enough above the treeline and maneuvered the bucket so not too much fish fell out. He'd be eating well for tonight and the morning, and though his stomach kicked at him Incus held off from vigorously eating the fish midair. That old man he stole fish from, Incus actually had concern over the human, surprisingly enough. He was always out there alone, fishing with no one else, and a year ago his grandchildren stopped coming by. The Night Fury was curious and he investigated, hearing the old man and his son argue about trips around the world or something like that.

The kids used to always chase the dragon to the edge of the old mans property. Cute little things, but in truth he missed that as antisocial the Fury was. Maybe the old man was actually happy to see Incus? He didn't know, he knew though that not all humans were the same violent apes he thought they were. And then, a voice called out, "Hey! Can I have some of your fish? I'm hungry!"

This caused the young Fury to stop immediately, stiffening his body and went from a horizontal position to a vertical one. His wings flapped in place as a younger dragoness zipped over head and Incus' heart pounded, being the antisocial dragon he was, he wasn't expecting a random stranger to catch him off guard. What caused his heart the thump faster was the fact she, or he, was indeed another Night Fury. Incus ran through so many thoughts as he stayed there flapping his wings.

"Who..." Incus started, gulping and staying cautious, "Who are you?"
