Day of Swift Night (NightWings) - Page 2 Empty Day of Swift Night (NightWings)

First topic message reminder :

((For the first phase of this topic the trackers and assassins will be arriving first so for now only they may post. Due to the nature of their specific mission no NPC's may be used for this first phase.))

The wind was lethargic and the skies were a deep blue with sparse clouds. The sun beamed down heating the air to 80 degrees fahrenheit. For most of the humans below this was the perfect temperature and the perfect day to get some work done. This was one of their newer outposts being on the very edge of their new territory. It was comprised of mostly volunteer settlers willing to risk the unknown for some ripe free land. The humans had no idea what the dragon tribe's borders were but they knew the dangers of their greedy expansion. On such a perfect day though they were relaxed as they went about developing the future settlement. At the moment the main part of the outpost was but a wall of tightly packed wooden spikes 10 feet tall and creating a circle of 200 feet in diameter. Within the circle were little stick huts serving as temporary living situations while the settlers got to work building their log cabins outside the wall. Directly outside the wall there was a clearing of fallen timber all around it making it clear where they had gotten resources for the outpost.

30 humans resides here. A third were chopping more trees to expand their outpost. Another third were spread out far from the outpost building up their log cabins. A sixth were out gathering food. The last sixth were women and children residing within the walls doing chores like cooking the food gathered the previous day and washing of the things humans call clothing. All were rather pleased with how the day was starting out and were blissfully oblivious to the night that would soon fall upon them.

Day of Swift Night (NightWings) - Page 2 Empty Re: Day of Swift Night (NightWings)

Oculus brought his troop of dragons to the edge of the forest, noticing how more of the land was destroyed than before.  Despicable.  Utterly despicable.  These vile creatures were desecrating the land, and for what?  To build little structures of wood?  Destroying the homes of creatures just to build wooden shacks?  Just the site of them caused a growl to enter his throat.  The extra clearing they had created made it impossible to get too close to ambush them at the wall.  He knew exactly how to enter unseen, but did not know if he should do that or test them.  He would let them decide.  "Alright, so we have a dilemma.  They have cleared the forest, and have a tower up there.  There could be weapons up there, and an alarm.  So I am giving you the option.  I can personally sneak you all to the wall, where you can repeat the earlier exercise, or you can blitzkrieg the fort and hit them hard and take out any weapons and alarms.  This may be riskier, but I trust you guys to make the right choice.  You want my assistance in bringing you all close, or you want to rush it?"  As he finished asking, his eyes would go red with black does in them, watching them and waiting for an answer.  He really did trust them, and if they wanted to try and do it without his help, he believed they could.  But, he knew that was riskier, and did not want to risk their lives, hence the choice he was giving them.

Day of Swift Night (NightWings) - Page 2 Empty Re: Day of Swift Night (NightWings)

Delillah had flown aside Oculus towards the next village, when they arrived she left the group for several meters to gain better observance of the village. It was bigger and the humans seemed more prepared still the were fools, stones provided good weapons to throw if necessary and the wall was tall enough to provide short shelter with ease. She flicked her gaze one last time over the village before returning to the others, in time to catch Oculus's next words. She had halted next to the others but was now slowly walking past oculus with a smirk her gaze on him, her voice low "I believe we all would be quite excited to see you, Oh great Night wing King, in action, for we have all heard of your unique and awe- inspiring abilities" She said lowering her head quite dramatically, claw outstretched towards the village. One would have presumed mockery within her words, perhaps there was some, but never towards her King.  She hid the flash of excitement wave through her as his eyes turned red and black, and it was now the game had finally begun and she for sure would have her fun.

Day of Swift Night (NightWings) - Page 2 Empty Re: Day of Swift Night (NightWings)

Post by Kaora Mon May 02, 2016 6:13 pm

As Kaora followed Oculus and the group, she would've never imagined the sight she came upon. Little stumps were left where giant trees once stood, taking over hundreds of years to reach that height. Having to go through storms and harsh winds, only to be cut down by human hands. A growl escaped her maw. This site really fueled her for the next attack.

She could've easily gone for going head on with the fort, but it was probably wiser to let Delillah decide to let Oculus help them there. She had also heard a few rumors about his powers, but that fact that the other female was so intent about seeing them made her wonder if they were actually real. Kaora waited to see what move they were going to take, watching the fort intently.

Oculus smiled as he held his head high, looking down at the assault group that would liberate this forest of the pest that ate it. "Well then, everyone gather close, shoulder to shoulder. And don't whine about touching each other," he said, waiting for them to get close to him and around him. "Form three lines if necessary, need everyone to be close to humiliate these pests," he spoke, referring to the humans that were obliterating the forest. For whatever reason, the humans all seemed to be inside the fort at this time. Perfect. If any of them ran off, all that would be required is to swoop down and finish them before they gained any real distance. Some might have heard sarcasm in Delillah's voice, but he was pretty sure she was rather excited to see him use his ability in the field rather than just talk about it. He waited until all the dragons participating in the attack gathered close and were close enough to him before smiling deviously. Closing his eyes, he calmed his breath, lowering his heart rate and preparing to cast his ability in their vicinity, before opening his eyes and finishing it. For the group of dragons, they would see nothing or feel nothing different. The same would go for the humans. "Stay close, don't panic." he spoke rather curtly, focusing more on keeping them all covered before literally starting to walk into the open, walking slow enough and ever so hoping they trusted him and continued to follow him and not freak out. He would slowly walk to the edge of the fort walls, not hiding at all, but the humans would not see them. He had put an illusion up around the group, moving them with the illusion to the wall. Any onlookers outside his illusionary box would see nothing out of the ordinary, as he practically made the dragons disappear.

Delillah stood and began walking towards Oculus, next to him she halted and watched the others form another two lines. She smirked at his comment and took a step closer so that her wing was in contact with his and once they began walking she heard his body prepare to make them disappear for the humans eyes. They continued to walk, nearly stroll towards the wall of the fort and she glanced at the humans above the wall. So oblivious and stupid. The illusion had helped them, they had wasted less energy this way than they would have simply storming in, and what is a battle without the good old element of surprise.

In the moment they reached the wall she stuck to it and began whispering to the group taking full control once more "Spread out along the wall, stay down. If one of them sees you use the stones along the wall, they will not act immediately as they will not consider a dragon to have thrown it." She allowed the words to sink in before turning to Kaora "I want you on the opposite side of us, once you're there we act" Then turning to Nightwolf "You will take place outside and take care of the running. Do not let any escape. Now let us cause some muggle blood to flow" She watched them all before turning to Oculus "Will you join me?" She said with a devilish smirk. A feeling of comfortability spread over her body and with a glance into the orange lit sky, indicating for the night to come, her scales inwardly shifted and similar to a wave turned matt.

Kaora joined in with the others as they gathered around Oculus and began to walk. As they walked she saw nothing different, but it could've just been because she was so focused on the fort. It was hard not to just dart out and attack them but she had enough self-control not to. Listening to the quiet footsteps of the other dragons helped to remind her to walk forward and at that pace, nothing faster that could possibly mess up the mission.

The dragoness listened to Delillah's words as she spoke before turning her attention to her. After she was done speaking to her Kaora nodded, glancing at her route. After she was done speaking the black dragoness set out that way around the wall. She was careful enough to not make her steps loud enough for them to hear and kept her head up incase someone peared over the wall. Her breathing slowed so that it was as quiet as herself. Kaora barely even realized she hit the other side of the wall, letting out a smirk as she waited for the battle to begin.

Post by Oculus Wed May 18, 2016 6:01 pm

The whole preceding was...interesting to say the least.  Oculus would have assumed that their plans would have already been made before sitting underneath their very noses.  It was odd though, he usually got prebattle jitters before combat, yet here he did not, felt nothing more that if he was going out on a sunset walk in the palace grounds.  Oh well, it really wasn't anything much, just a slaughter again.  Like all bipedals, they would fall to the NightWings with little effort.  Watching his head assassin dish out orders, he raised a brow at her as she requested for him to follow her in battle.  Well, it would be a nice exercise he guessed, instead of just moderating and actually participating.  Giving a slight nod of his head, he watched Delillah, "Of course...just don't forget target priorities.  Siege weapons, watchtower, then runners."  Feeling no threat to the current situation, he let his eyes shift down to their red with dots instead of his fully awakened eyes.  He had been paying attention above him to verify no humans had taken a look down and spotted them, and giving adequate time for everyone to get into position, he smiled at Delillah,  giving her one more simple order to follow, "Send them to Nimbus."

Day of Swift Night (NightWings) - Page 2 Empty Re: Day of Swift Night (NightWings)

Post by Delillah Thu May 26, 2016 9:58 am

There was not much to do as she and Oculus waited. Of course she had realised his disbelief in her giving out orders now rather than earlier, but delillah simply smirked mentally. This fort was once again nothing but a simple test, it was easy to get in and out with everyone dead but where would be the fun in that. Besides she was constantly on the lookout for Nightwings with potential for something greater than playing a cat and mouse game with brainless animals, even if she had fresh meat to train. So delightful.

There was not much reaction from Oculus as she asked to accompany her but a nod. "I would advice you not to touch the mist" she hinted, several seconds past before she nodded to Oculus and curled her claws around a rock which seemed to be light enough for her to carry before she threw it over the wall, which curious human eyes followed and within the few seconds that followed she had send a wolfish smirk towards Oculus, opened her wings and with a single powerful beat of them she had transported herself backwards over the wall. Just above the wall she watched as the brainless humans turned and stared in horror as her tail came down on them and cut three down in a single swipe.

She landed neatly on the other side and removed another two bodies from their heads. In the action of doing that she heard the faint click of a crossbow. She spun her tail, now decorated with extended spikes, and it collided with the human, who's dead body she then shook of her tail. There were no screams, no alarms going of as the darkness of the night had enveloped them like a blanket, shielding them from the oblivious eyes of the humans.

She stalked forward towards one of the towers. There were several humans surrounding it, all wore armour and some carried weapons such as spears, bows and crossbows. She ran towards them and came down on them with spiked tail and short swift movements. She held several in a claw and breathed a small cloud of black mist onto them, instantly they began screaming as they were robbed of their senses. It was time for the other shadows to join. The high pitched shrieks continued for another three seconds before she silenced them. Now people were shouting, orders were passed on but delillah was quicker. A large black mist hung around the tower and she was within eliminating the humans and the weapon above it. The very thing she just did and every other actions she took had always their reason, even if it didn't seem so.

Day of Swift Night (NightWings) - Page 2 Empty Re: Day of Swift Night (NightWings)

Post by Kaora Thu May 26, 2016 6:52 pm

Kaora listened patiently for any signs of the start of the attack. Her first sign was the screams. Screams of the innocent or of the criminals that robbed this land of its trees, its animals, its beauty. They replaced with this... thing in the middle of it. It irritated her, and she couldn't wait to rip them apart. First thing's first, jump over the wall and get rid of the one that could possibly do damage.

With a slight snarl the she dragon jumped over. She wondered if it even mattered to stay silent now, these humans seemed to have already gotten their small heads around to what was going on. It was an attack, an ambush, and their main threat was dragons. It was amusing. With their little bows and swords they thought they'd be able to stop them. At best, they'd just manage to slow our group down slightly.

With a smile, Kaora began to take down the slightly threatening attackers, the ones with swords and bows. Everyone else could be left alone for now, and she doubted that they'd be able to get out if they wanted. If they managed to get through their walls, there was another dragon stationed there anyways. The blood lust was easily seen in her. Whether it was just to get revenge or because it was... fun... it was still there. This was nothing like taking down a deer, these things were easier, smaller, and just plain idiotic. It made her smile even scarier to the humans, her paws now painted in their blood.

Nothing could go wrong now, they had these humans like putty in their paws. Their screams echoing off walls as they looked for an escape. This is what they got for trying to destroy their land and take their prey. Kaora started to chuckle before a pain throbbed in her paw. The one she injured on the hunt where she crashed into Loque. It caused her to buckle on that leg, falling onto the ground and on a few unlucky humans. She let out a roar, opening her eyes only to realize she stepped on one of their swords, and it had caused a painful wound on her paw.

Any of the blood lust that was still there left her, and it made her dizzy. All the sounds rushing to her and all of the movement of the humans still running around. It disabled her, everything so loud and brighter than it was before. Even if that sword hadn't caused her to lose that much blood, her vision got blurry and her head heavy. Maybe it'd be better to just get a little rest...

Day of Swift Night (NightWings) - Page 2 Empty Re: Day of Swift Night (NightWings)

Post by Hyruu Fri May 27, 2016 12:42 am

Delilah's attack took the humans by surprise, but it didn't take long before a horn was blown, warning every human in the fort of the ambush attack. Whether it was the screening or the suddenly obscured fires that gave the hint, the alarm had been raised anyway.
It took a few seconds for the ones stationed at the sides of the fort to start converging where the conflict was going on.
Some archers on the main central tower started to shot arrows at the two visible dragons. The arrows were pretty sharp, and it wouldn't be surprising that one of them found its way between two scales. The damage it would make wasn't much of an hindrance though. However, right at the top of the tower a bright flash of light suddenly appeared. The light seemed to blink a few times, in a pattern that seemed regular.
As for Kaora, since she was on the ground humans had started to surround her. At first cautious, they soon started to poke the dragoness with swords and spears, trying to wound her. Most of the hits would bounce on her scales, but a few ones would manage to sneak their way between scales and inflict cuts should she not defend. The one that had the most chances to hurt her was the one that started to aim at her eyes.

Day of Swift Night (NightWings) - Page 2 Empty Re: Day of Swift Night (NightWings)

Post by Oculus Fri May 27, 2016 6:17 pm

Oculus just raised his brow at Delillah's aerobatic display, obviously showing off as she vaulted backwards over the wall.  Shaking his head, he simply flapped his wings once to reach the top of the fort wall as he landed lightly on it.  The wall was smaller than his body, which was funny in itself.  He gave a light glance around, seeing Delillah begin to have some fun with the humans, assaulting a tower with humans.  With a sigh, he once again alighted into the air, landing on top of the central tower to get a birds eye view of the fort.  Ants was all that he could describe it as.  Ants running a muck amongst the ant eaters.  Simple minded pests that did not belong in these lands.  They would be eradicated, and those that survived would learn to work for the dragons that were superior to them.  Sitting on the tower, that is, for the split second it stood while he was on it, he over looked the grounds..  As the tower did crumble, Oculus flapped his wings in order to maintain altitude as the tower fell. Observing the ants running and poking at his dragons, he raised a brow, but was quickly bored of the display as both Kaora and Delillah had failed to take out priority targets, or even act like they were as some of the targets were not there.  His red and black eyes looking around, he took a deep breath as he steadied himself before once again engulfing the area around him into a false visual realm.  To Kaora and Delillah, nothing was different.  For all the humans unfortunate to fall in his area illusion, they would see bunch of reptilians scrambling over the walls and charging, killing the humans fellow comrades.  Of course, none of this was actually happening, but the humans would see reptilians coming at them, when in actuality, it was simply another human, who saw the other human as a reptilian.  For one human, he would see a reptilian very close to him about to slay another human, and would be able to slay the reptilian before it could kill his ally, when he would actually be killing his ally.  Oculus smiled and watched the chaos unfold below him, watching as human killed human, and were none the wiser till fatally stabbed.  Once the humans were all injured or dead, he would let Delillah and Kaora wrap up the matter, and capture any that survived. Hopefully more than last time.  The illusion he had put would most definitely help Delillah and Kaora too, as the humans would be fighting each other now and not just focused on two dragons, but they would still most likely be attacked by a few stupid souls.

Day of Swift Night (NightWings) - Page 2 Empty Re: Day of Swift Night (NightWings)

Post by Kaora Sun Jun 12, 2016 9:23 pm

Her scales hurt and her paw throbbed, but she was still tired. Was something attacking her? Kaora couldn't be sure. Soon enough she opened her eyes, head hurting. She was surrounded by humans, but at this time some of them had began to fight each other. She got up confused. What had caused her to fall? For now, she put the thought aside and attempted to get up. She couldn't remember what she was thinking before she fell, but she remembers jumping over the wall and beginning to attack the humans. She was tired, although she shouldn't be because she was a tracker. Trying to put some weight on her paw caused a sharp pain, and with a growl she looked at her paw again. Somehow a sword got lodged into her paw and it was disrupting her ability to walk, and hurting a lot. She let out a growl and got up on three paws, attempting to help take out the rest of the humans. Kaora had attempted to take the sword out once, but it hurt too much to. Confusing as it was, she was glad that the humans were preferring to attack each other rather than herself. Now all she had to do was wait for them to all die.
