Uknown Ties (OPEN PLEASE THREAD WITH ME)

OOC: Please do not feel that you have to match the length of this post. I am reusing Rii's sample cause I realized its a good way to start her off.

Rii had no idea where she had flown herself. The trees were taller and thicker than they were in the land to the east. Their trunks were roughly textured, perfect for climbing on, and they were wide enough a part for larger dragons to move through. This fact of course delighted the she dragon as the woman flew lazy circles through the sky. She had no idea that the trees were called sequoia's as her gem-like eyes measured the distances from the forest below her to the hills trying to figure out how large this territory was.

She was also keeping an eye out for other dragons. With a pristine habitat such as this sitting just below her Rii was sure that somebody must own the place. Despite her hunger and the many prey items flitting through the forest, Rii would make sure she was alone before hunting. It was only natural of her to be worried since she herself was such a wuss. Rii rarely put herself in a position where she might be attacked. That only happened when she was truly desperate for food or water.

I haven't seen anyone for some time now...and those deer look good... Rii thought quietly while taking one last glance around the trees and sky above her. Then the slender dragon looked over the territory below spotting her intended prey. A deer herd was browsing through the undergrowth under the trees. There was a few large enough openings for her to drop down into, but Rii would have to be very careful with her wings. Most likely she would have to fold them up just prior to dropping into the canopy so as not to harm herself. The drop from there wouldn't hurt her so long as she came down head and chest first. Plus she could grip onto the trees themselves and pounce down to the earth.

Slowly the greenish blue dragon angled her flight aiming for the deer herd and one particular opening in the forest canopy. She stilled her mighty wings and glided the rest of the way down to make sure that the deer did not hear her approach. Rii knew that they would not be looking upwards for predators, but they would flee at the sound of wing strokes through the air.

Just how she had imagined it in her head, Rii glided to the canopy then dipped her head and closed up her wings. The drop was fast, and had she not been confident with her strength, balance, and agility Rii probably would have moderately injured herself. As it was, the dragon dropped through the opening rather silently. It was when she gripped at the trees while descending that she made noise. However the female had stretched out her long neck and nipped at the deer of her choosing while she had been falling towards the trunks of the trees. Her claws gripped at the bark as she pounced downwards onto the ground and watched her deer then proceed to run off.

A few minutes later and the dragon was tracking her prey through the forest. Her first catch was a big old buck. It lay there in the dirt and leaves that it had fallen in totally paralyzed from her venom. It was easy for her to snap up the deer and chew off its antler covered head. The rest of its body filled her belly while Rii looked over the bucks fine antlers. For a moment she debated on eating it, then decided that she would rather search for her second deer that she had bitten earlier. It wouldn't be long before her venom wore off and she wasn't totally full yet...

A dark, lean, 60 ft. figure moved towards the mysterious, new dragoness. This lean figure was a female dragoness, around the age of twenty five at first glance, though in reality she was about 60, maybe even a little older than that. Her lean muscles flexed as she carefully examined the dragoness who was hunting, her purple eyes narrowing to tiny slits, and her eyes wide so that she could capture every movement of the new dragoness. Her black body seemed to shine against the piercing rays of the sun, but since she was hidden in the shade, this didn't really matter much to her anyway, the large leaves of the trees concealing her presance from the other dragoness. She didn't really have much of an appearance, with the exception of small, thin spikes running down her spine, starting at the back of her head, but other than that she looked like a pretty normal dragon. Or was she? Depending on the sanity level of Rii, the dragoness also had a thin, purple aura surrounding her, and the less sane you were, the redder it was.

A bird chirped over head, flying down low to the dragoness, who's name was known as Nightflare. The dragoness wasn't exactly stalking Rii. She had been out on a leisurely stroll when she had stumbled across the other dragoness. Curious, Nightflare had decided to take a look at the new dragoness, whom she had never seen before. Not usually did Nightflare do something like this, as she could not be bothered with such things. But today..... today was different. Night was pretty bored at the moment. Not something that happened often. Normally, she had plenty to do...... but not today. She had been excused of her duties as a tracker, and had decided to go take a rest somewhere else. She had wandered into rogue territory, and here she had found Rii.

At the moment, Night was contemplating what to do with Rii. Kill her was one option. Night hadn't killed anyone in a LOOOONG time. Last time she killed someone was when she had become adviser of the chaotic NightWings. Far too long, if you asked her. Her second option was to take her back to her torture chamber, where she would inevitably kill her. Third option was to act nice, and she'd figure something out from there. Then the fourth option was to act neutral. Night decided she wanted to act neutral, with a little bit of snobby hidden in their. But first she needed to figure out how to approach..... hmmm. Maybe she could hunt something, then accidentally bump into Rii. Yes, that seemed like a good plan. Besides, Nightflare was hungry anyway.

After deciding what to do, Night got into position, standing up, and shaking off the leaves that had fallen onto her back, her eyes briefly closed. Then, calmly, she strode off in the opposite direction of Rii, sniffing the air. She then closed her eyes for a moment, and muttered a few words. When she opened her eyes again, they were glowing a deep, vibrant yellow color, surrounding the purple irises. She then ran off like a jet, heading in the direction of the scent. Her eyes glowed as she tracked the animal, sniffing the ground carefully, before launching off again, snapping her head back and forth. It was like the animals didn't want to be eaten. Her eyes narrowed, but she continued her search.

Finally she heard something, and halted to a stop, dropping onto all fours, her eyes narrowing so that they were half closed. Her paws cracked on the leaves, and she winced. Even she made mistakes sometimes. She wasn't perfect, after all. Far from it. She closed her eyes carefully, whispering more words, hoping the spell would strengthen. Night then opened her eyes, the yellow having strengthened, and could tell that the animal was still there. Suddenly, the yellow disappeared from her eyes, and she winced as a sharp stab of pain wedged through her nose. She didn't yelp, though. This was what happened when she used that spell. She rubbed her nose, her eyes half closed, and a frown having appeared on her face. This was what happened when she abused that spell. The sting didn't go away, and it made it a little difficult to breath. But she would be able to handle it.

Shaking her head, Night focused her attention back to the food, and slowly crept closer, raising her ears up. This would be difficult, since she couldn't use her nose anymore. She would need to rely on her ears now. She crept forward, and the deer came into view. It was a young brachiosaurus, no older than a year, and this made Night slightly upset. She had hoped it would be a healthy, adult male animal in its prime. She sighed. She suppose she'd have to settle for this animal. It was about 30 feet tall, a good sized creature. Now, sure, Night could take the easy way out and kill it with magic, but what would the fun in that be? No, she would chase this creature. Have some fun with it before she killed it. She wasn't starving, after all.

Slowly, Night raised her haunches up, eying her next meal. Then, slowly, she began to step forward. The young animal saw her immediately. She had wanted this to happen. It was all a part of the plan. She could easily outpace the creature, thanks to her wings. Might as well give it a headstart. The dinosaur eyed Night, slowly backing away. Then Night froze, making eye contact with the creature. And almost as if using telepathy to tell him to run, the dinosaur took off, with Nightflare in hot pursuit. She followed the creature with ease, and quickly caught up to it. She didn't attack yet, though, and instead, steered it in the direction of Rii. When Nightflare saw Rii within shouting distance, she tackled the dino, digging she sharp claws into the creature. The dino screamed in pain, and Night quickly bit its neck, ending its suffering. Though, she would have liked it to suffer more.

She pretended not to notice Rii, instead clawing into her meal, and casually ripping out a chunk of meat and walking over to sit down next to the corpse, placing the meat in between her paws, nonchalantly ripping into it. Night wasn't in any serious hurry. After all, she wasn't very interested in the meat. Brachiosaurus meat tasted stale without seasoning, anyway. Besides, Night liked her meat cooked. Not by a lot, just with a little bit of demon's fire, and it would be perfect. But she was only really interested in attracting Rii's attention. Then she would see how things went from there. Who knew. Maybe things would go swellingly. You never know. Night was good at describing people most of the time, but she was tired right now, so she would rather experience the personality than figure it out for herself.

OOC: random brachiosaurus? is this RP like dated long before people? cause if it is I did not know that.... O.o

IC:
Rii never notices the second shadow hued female watching her. Whether that was because Nightflare was upwind of the dragon or perhaps her own senses were dull, Rii never spots her. Instead, the lean dragon lopes through the trees heading for the scent of her second deer. She dodges the thick trunks of the sequoia trees while winding her way through the landscape. She pauses only momentarily to drink from a stream that crosses her path. Then only moments later gallops towards her prey once more. Rii was not surprised by how far the animal had gotten. Most prey items didn't get much farther than 150 feet away from the point of attack.

The rest of the deer herd were nowhere to be seen. Rii was sure that they had escaped from the surrounding area soon after her initial surprise attack. However the animal Rii had bitten lie only a short distance from where she had originally attacked it. Well the distance was short to her, but still rather long in human terms.

The deer still lie upon the earth as if it had fallen and simply not gotten back up. It's warm brown eyes were dilated while its breath came in short gasps. A small amount of saliva dripped from the side of its muzzle while the creature viewed the world from a frozen body. Rii's venom was potent, but could be broken down by the body's proteins in a matter of minutes. Still, its effects lasted long enough for her to catch up to the creature and eat without much of a problem. Since she never had to struggle to get her food, Rii didn't have any scars dotting her long frame.

Rii was only half way finished with her meal when she felt the earth rumble. Taking a last bite out of her prey she quickly gulped it down while the fur along her back rose. Very soon she heard the stomping of a giant creature. Tasting the air told her that it was a dinosaur but the animal was not alone. She also scented dragon...

Spotting the creature finally galloping towards her, Rii weaved her body into the trees in order to hide. She was ready to run should it get too close, but the she dragon could see another dragon behind the creature. Rii was willing to bet that it was on the take down, and curiosity drove her to hide and watch.

As she thought, the other dragon pounced onto the dinosaur and ended its life. She quickly realizes that the stranger was a female, but is confused as the woman starts eating without noticing Rii. Staying as still as possible, the iridescent dragon watches quietly while the darker one fills her belly. Noting the opening in the trees above her, Rii keeps her wings at the ready in case she had to quickly fly off. She grips her tiny dragon hatchling dragon skull within her right paw, where it had been since her own hunt began, and moved her head to put it in view of the stranger.

"Nice catch dark one... It was a friendly enough greeting she gave, but Rii made no movement towards the other female. She would wait to see whether they were friendly or neutral in behavior before doing anything other than keeping guard.

(Actually, Celestia (Whom is practically the owner at this point) decided to add dinosaurs and humans because dinosaurs were big, and deer and stuff wouldn't satisfy a giant dragon like an EarthWing. Also, short post cause I can't think of anything )

A voice drifted over to Nightflare's ears, and she listened, raising her head slightly so that she could get a better grasp on what was being said. Not that it was hard. They weren't very far apart. Her paws had been wiped clean of the blood that had managed to get on them from the prey before she had lifted her head, as she wanted to appear civilized. Not that Nightflare cared much for appearances. They were merely a way to distinguish one dragon from the other. But some dragons took looks way to seriously. Night had also licked the blood off of her mouth, looking at the new dragoness with a calm, level head. Her face said nothing distinguishing about her personality. Then again, it wasn't easy to distinguish a dragon on looks alone. Sometimes hot-headed dragons could look beautiful and elegant, and intelligent, noteworthy dragons could be gruff and mean looking. It all varied. Personality was what really determined a dragon, but sometimes that was hidden under a mask, as well.

Now Night could get a better look at the dragoness. She stood at about 37 feet tall, with beautiful blue scales that glittered green in the sunlight that bounced off of them. She also looked like she had fur, since her scales seemed to be fluffy, almost. She blinked her eyes at the dragoness. Much more..... colorful, then Nightflare had expected. Night wasn't exactly a dragoness of rainbows and sunshine. She didn't like lots of color, because it messed with her head, and made her want to tear into something. But, since she was in the open, she kept her composure. You never knew when a NightWing could be lurking around the corner of the nearest bush, just waiting to report that she had ripped into an innocent dragon, or had done something else horrific.

Instead, she decided to call back to the dragoness, keeping her voice indifferent and neutral. Her voice sounded like cotton and honey, soft and sweet, with a bit of an accent in their, and it had a slightly older tune to it, around the age of fifty. Nightflare may have looked twenty five or thirty, but she was much older. She had used spells to make her look younger, and many dragons still mistook her for thirty or twenty five, "Thank you, my dear. I see I'm not the only one out for a hunt." What she had said was a simple conversation starter. Maybe she'd invite the dragoness to come sit near her when they got to know each other a bit more.... then perhaps she would go on from there.

It wasn't every day that you found a dragon who didn't run away from you every time they saw you. Nightflare didn't exactly have a happy reputation. Stories and rumors were spread about her practically every day, but honestly, Night could easily disprove all of them. They made her out to be a monster, who ate babies and breath death. But in reality, she was a calm dragon. For now, at least. And she needed to disprove these rumors, once and for all. She still needed to show her loyalty to the throne. To Oculus. She had a duty as a former adviser to represent the NightWings as best she could. Maybe after this talk she could go pay Oculus a visit.

A bird chirped in the distance. Spring was in full bloom. It was April, and pretty much everywhere but the NightWings were experiencing changes. Even the FireWings were getting climate changes. But the NightWings was always a place of death. And was known for its death and chaos. Perhaps Nightflare could put these rumors to ease. She decided to take another bite of the dinosaur, waiting to get a reply from Rii.

That was not a short post btw. XD Whereas my posts keep getting smaller. :/

Rii had no idea that the she dragon before her was a part of a larger unit. Nor did she know of the females darker history. All she could make out of the woman's actions and words so far was that she was non-talkative, calm, and very possibly trying to act nice right now. The metallic green woman lifted her head and arched her neck a little more comfortable in this situation than she had been moments before. She would keep her distance of course, for she knew that most dragons became aggravated when you approached their food. However as the other shadowy woman wiped blood from her muzzle, Rii couldn't notice how she looked over her own fine scales. She shifted then, purposely allowing her body and scales to glitter under the sunlight. One big weakness of Rii's was her vanity, and she liked it when other dragons noticed her strange beauty. However, another reason for her shifting was so that she could slowly move the end of her tail through her jaws as if she were preening herself. In actuality the dragon was preparing for a hasty escape cloaking her hidden tail spikes in venom.

She acted as if she were preening her tail fur a bit more before actually moving to preen the fur along her back. Her one eye stay carefully watching Nightflare as she spoke. At the end of her words Rii paused in her preening, lifted her head again, and gave the woman a nod of her head. Hunting was something she loved to do. If the other stranger could appreciate the fun it was to hunt and kill then she might very well get along with her.

Hunting is... a fun activity for me. Though it also fills the belly. She answered before sitting in her place. Her coils lay upon the earth and her tail wound around her body. Still her body was tense enough to jump and run if need be.

I like to kill, when necessary of course; though I don't think I have the amount of power to take out creatures such as your prize. She gestured to the dinosaur with a look akin to awe flitting over her face. Rii was too afraid of injuring herself to even try going after larger prey.

Nightflare listened to the feathered dragon speak, her tail flicking every so often as she held her prize in her paws. So this dragoness liked to kill, did she? Of course, only if necessary. Though Nightflare wouldn't mind if she had said she enjoyed all kinda of killing, even if it wasn't morally right. But Night didn't comment about this little detail she had picked up. She would politely listen to the dragoness talk. Perhaps some good conversation would help her sooth her nerves. Then again, the black dragoness wasn't nervous. She just wanted something to do that was at least relatively relaxing. And perhaps talking to a strange, feathered dragon would help Nightflare focus.

She listened carefully, then had an idea. Perhaps she could make "friends" with this dragon. She decided to call over to the dragoness, keeping up her polite, calm voice, "Well, dear, I doubt I'll finish all of this brachiosaur..... would you like to have some? It wouldn't be a hassle for me to share, I promise." And no, in case you were wondering, Nightflare hadn't poisoned the meat. She watched the dragon politely as she bit out another piece of the brachiosaur.

However, Nightflare didn't want to be rude to the new dragoness, so she decided to do the only polite thing she could think of, and cut the brachisaurus in half. She did this by stepping back, and tonning in the energy of the earth, and closed her eyes. A deep rumbling sound could be heard from deep within the earth. Suddenly, Night's eyes snapped open, and a huge slab of earth stabbed through the carcass, cleanly slicing it in half. The upper half, which she hadn't eaten yet, landed on the ground next to the sharp slab of earth. Night then took a step forward, and picked up the carcass, offering it to the new dragoness.

Rummaging in the forest for scraps of food, the scent of fresh dinosaur filled my nostrils and pricked my long ears with curiosity. Tracking the scent, I was lead through a lush forest with thick trees that draped their wide leaves overhead, blocking out the sunlight. Following the delicious scent, I came across two unfamiliar dragons hunting. One seemed to be handing over one half of that dinosaur. Oh, the wondrous scent of the mouth-watering, chewy, excellent food. I haven't had a meal like that in months, I thought to myself. Targeting the half corpse of the brachiosaurus, I lost all concentration on everything but the food. Lowering myself to the damp forest floor, I elongated my wings, preparing myself for takeoff. My mouth was practically watering from the smell of it. Making a close estimate of where the food was in my field of view. I lifted off the ground with my back legs and swooped over with an almost-graceful sweep and snatched the tip of the food with my teeth as I landed on a strong branch that secured my tactic from above. The food hung clumsily from the side of my mouth and I lay it down on the branch next to me. "Thanks for the meal!" I called out. Taking a bite of the food, my spine shivered at the taste of such food, and clutched the rest in my front claw. The branch began to crack and split, like a thread being pulled out of a blanket. My heavy weight pulled me and the branch to the floor, covering the forest with splints of wood from the branch. Trying to run off before a bigger scene was made, I realized my wing left wing was stuck under the large, broken branch. Struggling to break free of the branches grasp, I sit on the floor in defeat. "Could I get some help here?" I called out, swallowing the rest of the stolen brachiosaurus.

Rii fluffed the fur along her spine upwards as Nightflare attempted to share her meal. It wasn't a defensive gesture, but one that showed how nervous the bluish green dragon was. Very unsure of the offer, the metallic scaled she dragon warily dipped her head in thanks. It was only polite to do so, even if she truly didn't want to eat something an unfamiliar dragon was trying to give her. In an attempt of her own to be polite Rii shifted her wings readying herself to formally greet the darker female.

"My name is Rii, and I believe you already realize that I'm not from around here. What's your name if I may ask?" The lean dragon draped her wing over her long and lean mid section before leaning her head to one side curiously.

Rii paused just before she was about to step forward to eat. Instead she watched the dark dragon intrigued by the pull of the magic forces around her. Wow she can use magic without any drain on her energy? Rii was thoroughly impressed whenever she saw dragons around her using magic. She had lived by herself for such a long time traveling through territories where nobody could use magic, that seeing a dinosaur magically cut in half amused her greatly. Clapping her jaws together Rii growled approval at the ebony she dragon while she moved to give her the other half of the brachiosaur. However the sound of scales scraping against each other to her left made Rii withdraw her head and coil herself ready to strike at the fast moving object. Whipping her tail out at the passing dragon who was stealing the dinosaur meat, Rii tried to hit the other stranger with her tail spikes.

Had Rii known that the other dragon was only going for the meat she would have gladly let him take it for she was unsure of whether Nightflare might have poisoned it before giving it to her. However since the male had dropped out of the sky without so much as a growl for warning Rii had been startled into attacking.

Not seeing Nightflare as an immediate threat right now, Rii half turned to watch the male as he perched upon a thick branch. Hissing and growling deeply at the male was her way of expressing the annoyance of being rudely interupted. She was ready to bite should he move any closer to her. However she was more curious as to whether her tail spikes had struck their mark or not.
